Nasal respiratory assembly and methods of use
Abstract
The present invention is a nasal respiratory assembly and methods of using the same wherein the assembly comprises a mask, a ventilator hose and a strap. The mask has a top surface, a base, an exhaust port having a one-way valve and two rotatable intake ports. The hose has a first end and a second end adapted to be received by the first and second intake ports, and at least a third end to connect to the ventilator. The hose and/or the mask further contain a rotatable medication delivery port to allow treatment delivery in close proximity to the patient.; The rotatable intake ports are located on either side of the mask so that the pressurized air is not delivered directly into the patient's nasal cavities.

1. A nasal respiratory assembly for delivering a therapeutic treatment to a patient comprising:
a) a mask having a top surface and a base, wherein said mask is configured with an exhaust port having a one-way valve positioned on said top surface;
b) a first rotatable intake port and a second rotatable intake port positioned on either side of said top surface, wherein each of said first and said second rotatable intake ports further comprises a directing means that directs pressurized gas away from entering said patient's nasal cavities directly, and wherein said directing means is one or more louvered vents;
c) a hose having a first end and a second end adapted to be received by said first and second intake ports, and at least a third end; and
d) a at least one rotatable medication delivery port provided on said hose and positioned proximal to at least one of said intake ports; and
wherein said therapeutic treatment is not delivered directly into the patient's nasal cavities.
2. The nasal respiratory assembly according to claim 1 , wherein said rotatable medication delivery port is affixed on said top surface of said mask.
3. The nasal respiratory assembly according to claim 1 , wherein said first and said second rotatable intake ports are positioned one on either side of said mask such that said therapeutic treatment is received above and on either side of said patient's nasal cavities.
4. The nasal respiratory assembly according to claim 1 , wherein said exhaust port is positioned on said top surface of said mask configured to be placed below said the patient's nasal cavities when said mask is worn by the patient.
5. The nasal respiratory assembly according to claim 1 , wherein said rotatable medication delivery port is provided on said top surface of said mask.
6. The nasal respiratory assembly according to claim 1 , wherein said nasal respiratory assembly further at least one rotatable medication delivery port comprises two first and second rotatable medication delivery ports one on either side of said top surface adjacent proximal to said first and said second intake ports, respectively.
7. The nasal respiratory assembly according to claim 1 , wherein said exhaust port further comprises a removable filter.
8. The nasal respiratory assembly according to claim 1 , further comprising a strap and at least four loop adapters two on either side of said mask, wherein said strap has U-shaped ends adapted to be received by said at least four loop adapters for retaining said mask on the face of said patient.
9. The nasal respiratory assembly according to claim 8 , wherein said strap further comprises a connector for affixing said first and second ends of said hose to said strap.
10. The nasal respiratory assembly according to claim 9 , wherein said connector is one or more clips, hooks or Velcro™ strips.
11. A method for administering respiratory therapy to a patient comprising the steps of:
affixing, to a patient, a nasal respiratory assembly comprising:
a) a mask having a top surface and a base, wherein said mask is configured with an exhaust port having a one-way valve positioned on said top surface;
b) a first rotatable intake port and a second rotatable intake port positioned on either side of said top surface, wherein each of said first and said second rotatable intake ports further comprises a directing means that directs pressurized gas away from entering said patient's nasal cavities directly, and wherein said directing means is one or more louvered vents;
c) a hose having a first end and a second end adapted to be received by said first and second intake ports, and at least a third end; and
d) a rotatable medication delivery port provided on said hose and positioned proximal to at least one of said intake ports; and
delivering a pressurized gas into said hose wherein said therapeutic treatment pressurized gas, optionally in combination with medication supplied through the rotatable medication delivery port, is not delivered directly into the patient's nasal cavities.
12. The method according to claim 11 , wherein said nasal respiratory assembly further comprises a strap and at least four loop adapters two on either side of said mask, wherein said strap has U-shaped ends adapted to be received by said at least four loop adapters for retaining said mask on the face of said patient.
13. The method according to claim 12 , wherein said affixing further comprises positioning said U-shaped ends of said strap around said patient's ears.
14. A nasal respiratory assembly for delivering a therapeutic treatment to a patient having nasal cavities, the nasal respiratory assembly comprising:
a) a mask comprising a top surface and a base, wherein an exhaust port is positioned on or proximate to said top surface; b) at least one intake port coupled with the mask along said top surface, wherein the at least one intake port comprises an internal vent having a gas directing element comprising one or more planar surfaces or louvers within the at least one intake port, and wherein the gas directing element is configured to direct pressurized gas away from entering said patient's nasal cavities directly; c) a hose configured to be received by the at least one intake port; and d) at least one medication delivery port positioned upstream of the at least one intake port and configured to supply medication to the mask; wherein the nasal respiratory assembly is configured to deliver said therapeutic treatment without providing a flow of pressurized gas directly into the patient's nasal cavities.
15. The nasal respiratory assembly of claim 14 , wherein the at least one intake port comprises a first intake port and a second intake port.
16. The nasal respiratory assembly of claim 14 , wherein the at least one medication delivery port comprises at least one rotatable medication delivery port.
17. The nasal respiratory assembly of claim 14 , wherein:
the at least one intake port comprises a first intake port and a second intake port; the at least one medication delivery port comprises a first medication delivery port and a second medication delivery port; and the first and second delivery ports are respectively positioned on either side of the top surface of the mask, and positioned adjacent the first and second intake ports, respectively.
18. The nasal respiratory assembly of claim 14 , wherein the one or more planar surfaces or louvers within the at least one intake port comprises a plurality of louvers within the at least one intake port.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
