Abstract

A lenticular display in association with a consumer article such as a beverage container positioned with respect to the container so that a series of images are presented to the user as the article is used in its normal manner such as when the user is engaged in drinking. The images may be accompanied by a synchronized audio message. In other embodiments, the image may be illuminated and may impart motion.

1. A visual display device for use with a beverage container of the type having an upper open end enclosed by a lid having a fluid aperture, said device comprising:
 (a) a lenticular display including at least two images viewable at first and second viewing angles; and  
 (b) a holder secured to the container lid for orienting said display in a position relative to the container and fluid aperture whereby said images are sequentially displayed to the user as the user manipulates the container in the normal course of accessing the contents via the fluid aperture.  
 
     
     
       2. The visual display device of  claim 1  wherein said holder is removably secured to said lid. 
     
     
       3. The visual display device of  claim 2  wherein the holder comprises a frame having a slot therein for removably receiving said display. 
     
     
       4. The visual display device of  claim 2  wherein the display is a generally rectangular card-like structure. 
     
     
       5. The visual display device of  claim 3  wherein said holder includes upstanding side walls defining a glare shield. 
     
     
       6. The visual display device of  claim 1  wherein said holder is integrally formed as part of said lid. 
     
     
       7. The visual display device of  claim 6  wherein said holder is generally circular and wherein said holder has cooperating retention means for releasably securing said visual display device to said lid. 
     
     
       8. The visual display device of  claim 1  further including audio means for generating an audio output synchronized with position of the article and the image displayed. 
     
     
       9. The visual display device of  claim 8  wherein said audio means includes a power source, microphone, microprocessor and switch. 
     
     
       10. The visual display device of  claim 9  wherein said audio means is associated with one side of said display. 
     
     
       11. The visual display device of  claim 9  wherein said switch includes a displaceable contact which progressively activates the audio means to broadcast a sequence of audible sounds as the container is tilted. 
     
     
       12. The visual display device of  claim 1  further including means for illuminating said display. 
     
     
       13. The visual display device of  claim 1  further including means for imparting motion to said display. 
     
     
       14. The visual display device of  claim 1  further including means for illuminating said display. 
     
     
       15. The visual display device of  claim 1  further including means for imparting motion to said display. 
     
     
       16. The visual display device of  claim 1  wherein said holder has registration means for orienting it relative to the container in a use position. 
     
     
       17. The visual display device of  claim 16  wherein said container is provided with graphics located to visually coordinate with the lenticular display when in a use position. 
     
     
       18. The visual display device of  claim 1  wherein said holder defines multiple viewing windows. 
     
     
       19. A visual display device for use with a beverage container comprising:
   a )  a lid, said lid having a fluid aperture;        b )  a lenticular display; and        c )  a means for orienting said display in a position relative to the container and fluid aperture whereby said lenticular display is displayed to the user as the user manipulates the container in the normal course of accessing the contents via the fluid aperture.     
     
     
       20. The visual display device of  claim 19  wherein the means for orienting said display comprises a visual field having an X axis and Y axis and further wherein said Y axis passes through said fluid aperture and said X axis is perpendicular to said Y axis; said lenticular display being positioned on said lid by visual reference to said X and Y axes. 
     
     
       21. The visual display device of  claim 19  wherein the means for orienting said display comprises at least one registration alignment mark formed on said lenticular display and a corresponding registration alignment mark formed on said lid. 
     
     
       22. The visual display device of  claim 21  wherein the at least one registration alignment mark is in alignment with the fluid aperture. 
     
     
       23. The visual display device of  claim 19  wherein the lenticular display is secured to said lid by means of friction. 
     
     
       24. The visual display device of  claim 19  wherein the lenticular display is secured to said lid by means of an adhesive. 
     
     
       25. The visual display device of  claim 19  wherein the lenticular display is generally rectangular. 
     
     
       26. The visual display device of  claim 19  wherein the lenticular display is a disk. 
     
     
       27. The visual display device of  claim 19  further including audio means for generating an audio output synchronized with position of the article and the image displayed. 
     
     
       28. The visual display device of  claim 27  wherein said audio means includes a power source, microphone, microprocessor and switch. 
     
     
       29. The visual display device of  claim 28  wherein said switch includes a displaceable contact that progressively activates the audio means to broadcast a sequence of audible sounds as the container is tilted. 
     
     
       30. The visual display device of  claim 19  wherein said lenticular display displays effects selected from the group of: morphing, flipping, phasing, zooming and three- dimensional.   
     
     
       31. The visual display device of  claim 19  further including means for illuminating said display. 
     
     
       32. A visual display device for use with a beverage container comprising:
   a )  a lid, said lid having a fluid aperture; and        b )  a lenticular display including at least two images viewable at first and second viewing angles, said lens being form integrally onto said lid such that said lenticular display is formed in a visual field having an X axis and Y axis and further wherein said Y axis passes through said fluid aperture and said X axis is perpendicular to said Y axis; and further wherein lenticular display is positioned on said lid by visual reference to said X and Y axes.     
     
     
       33. The visual display device of  claim 32  further comprising at least one vertical lenticular display, corresponding to said lenticular display, said vertical lenticular display being formed on said beverage container. 
     
     
       34. The visual display device of  claim 33  wherein the at least one vertical lenticular display is in alignment with said lenticular display. 
     
     
       35. The visual display device of  claim 33  further comprising a second vertical lenticular display, corresponding to said lenticular display, said second vertical lenticular display being formed on said beverage display and being oppositely disposed from said at least one vertical lenticular display. 
     
     
       36. The visual display device of  claim 35  wherein the at least one vertical lenticular display and the second vertical lenticular display are in alignment with said lenticular display. 
     
     
       37. The visual display device of  claim 35  wherein the at least one vertical lenticular display and the second vertical lenticular display are in alignment with said lenticular display along the X- axis of said visual field.   
     
     
       38. The visual display device of  claim 32  further including audio means for generating an audio output synchronized with position of the article and the image displayed. 
     
     
       39. The visual display device of  claim 38  wherein said audio means includes a power source, microphone, microprocessor and switch. 
     
     
       40. The visual display device of  claim 39  wherein said audio means is associated with one side of said display. 
     
     
       41. The visual display device of  claim 39  wherein said switch includes a displaceable contact that progressively activates the audio means to broadcast a sequence of audible sounds as the container is tilted. 
     
     
       42. The visual display device of  claim 32  further including means for illuminating said display.
