Metal organophosphorus compounds

Abstract

Compounds containing phosphorus divalent metals, carboxylic acid radicals and possibly alkoxy or aryloxy groups are prepared by heating carboxylic acid salts of divalent metals with alkyl or aryl phosphates or phosphite, or acid alkyl phosphates or phosphites.

What is claimed is: 
     
       1. A metal organic .Iadd.phosphate .Iaddend.compound which consists of a phosphorus atom, .[.n.].   .Iadd.three .Iaddend.divalent metal atoms selected from the group consisting of calcium, zinc, cadmium, cobalt, manganese, copper, magnesium, barium, lead, and zirconium in the form of the zirconyl radical ═ZrO, .[.wherein n is an integer from 1-3,.]. each linked to the phosphorus atom through an oxygen atom,   .Iadd.and .Iaddend.a carboxylic acid group of up to 30 carbon atoms selected from the group consisting of Versatic acid, tall oil fatty acids and 8 to 10 .Iadd.carbon-atom containing .Iaddend.isoacids .Iadd.also .Iaddend.attached to each divalent metal atom .[.and 3-n groups selected from the group consisting of hydroxy groups, alkoxy groups of up to 4 carbon atoms and phenyl groups.]. .Iadd.through the carboxylic radical.Iaddend.,   the phosphorus atom additionally having an oxygen atom attached to it through a double bond. .Iadd. 2. The metal organic compound of claim 1 wherein the divalent metal atom is cobalt. .Iaddend..Iadd. 3. The metal organic compound of claim 1 wherein the carboxylic acid is Versatic acid. .Iaddend. .Iadd. 4. The metal organic compound of claim 1 wherein the divalent metal atom is cobalt and the carboxylic acid is Versatic acid. .Iaddend..Iadd. 5. Cobalt versatate phosphate of the formula PO(OCoV) 3 , wherein V represents the versatate radical. .Iaddend..Iadd. 6. Cadmium versatate phosphate of the formula PO(OCdV) 3 , wherein V represents the versatate radical. .Iaddend..Iadd. 7. Magnesium tallate phosphate of the formula PO(OMgT) 3 , wherein T represents the tallate radical. .Iaddend..Iadd. 8. Calcium tallate phosphate of the formula PO(OCaT) 3 , wherein T represents the tallate radical. .Iaddend..Iadd. 9. Calcium versatate phosphate of the formula PO(OCaV) 3 , wherein V represents the versatate radical. .Iaddend..Iadd. 10. Manganese versatate phosphate of the formula PO(OMnV) 3 , wherein V represents the versatate radical. .Iaddend..Iadd. 11. Copper iso-acids phosphate of the formula PO(OCuX) 3 , wherein X represents 8-10 carbon-containing acids.
