Sweetpotato plant named ‘NCORNSP-031SHMG’

Abstract

‘NCORNSP-031SHMG’ is a moderately compact and loosely upright variety with a moderate growth rate and is well branched. It is distinguishable from other ornamental sweetpotato cultivars by its dark red heart shaped leaves, a moderately-compact habit and semi-erect mounding plant architecture. The dark red leaves, uniform color, short internodes, and the plant architecture, which promotes good plant production in the greenhouse for wholesale distributors, distinguishes ‘NCORNSP-031SHMG’ amongst the current ornamental sweetpotatoes in the marketplace. In greenhouse and field trials, ‘NCORNSP-031SHMG’ is shown to be suitable for use as a landscape or containerized plant.

       1. A new and distinct cultivar of  Ipomoea batatas  plant named ‘NCORNSP-031SHMG’, substantially as illustrated and described herein.
