Abstract

A blade adapter for a hacksaw is connected to the spine of the hacksaw and includes three connection portions. The hacksaw blade is connected between the engaging portion connected to the handle of the hacksaw and one of the three connection portions of the blade adapter to set the hacksaw blade at two different angular positions relative to the spine. The hacksaw blade can be set to be parallel to the spine or at an angle relative to the spine. A jabsaw blade is able to be connected to the front end of the hacksaw.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

       1. A blade adapter for a hacksaw, comprising:
 a first end and a second end, an engaging portion located at the first end of the blade adapter and an anti-slip surface defined in an underside of the engaging portion;
 a first connection portion located on a top surface of the second end of the blade adapter and having a first protrusion extending therefrom;
 a second connection portion extending from a bottom surface of the second end of the blade adapter and having an inclined surface, and a second protrusion extending from the inclined surface; and
 a third connection portion located on a side of the second end of the blade adapter and a third protrusion extending from the third connection portion;
 wherein two openings are defined in a side of the blade adapter and located close to the first end of the blade adapter, the engaging portion is located between the two openings.

       2. The blade adapter as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the third connection portion extends from the side of the second end of the blade adapter and bends an angle, a gap is defined between the third connection portion and the side of the second end of the blade adapter, a threaded hole is defined in the third connection portion.

       3. A hacksaw comprising:
 a spine having a first end and a second end, a handle connected to the first end and being perpendicular to the spine, and a reception chamber defined in the second end;
 a tension device connected to the handle; and
 a blade adapter having a first end and a second end, an engaging portion located at the first end of the blade adapter, a first connection portion located on a top surface of the second end of the blade adapter and having a protrusion extending therefrom, a second connection portion extending from a bottom surface of the second end of the blade adapter and having an inclined surface, a third connection portion located on a side of the second end of the blade adapter and another protrusion extending from the third connection portion, the engaging portion engaged with the reception chamber in the second end of the spine, the handle being parallel to the blade adapter, a frame being formed by the blade adapter, the spine and the handle, a blade having a first end thereof connected to the tension device and a second end of the blade connected to the protrusion of the first connection portion of the blade adapter;
 wherein two openings are defined in a side of the blade adapter and located close to the first end of the blade adapter, the engaging portion is located between the two openings.

       4. The hacksaw as claimed in claim 3 , wherein the third connection portion extends from the side of the second end of the blade adapter and bends an angle, a gap is defined between the third connection portion and the side of the second end of the blade adapter, a threaded hole is defined in the third connection portion.

       5. The hacksaw as claimed in claim 3 , wherein a jabsaw blade has an end thereof inserted into a gap between an anti-slip surface of the engaging portion and inside of the second end of the spine, the jabsaw blade has a positioning hole and extends from a front end of the hacksaw, a bolt extends through a locking hole defined through the second end of the spine, a threaded hole in the engaging portion and the positioning hole to fix the jabsaw blade to the spine.

       6. A hacksaw comprising:
 a spine having a first end and a second end, a handle connected to the first end and being perpendicular to the spine, and a reception chamber defined in the second end;
 a tension device connected to the handle; and
 a blade adapter having a first end and a second end, an engaging portion located at the first end of the blade adapter, a first connection portion located on a top surface of the second end of the blade adapter and having a first protrusion extending therefrom, a second connection portion extending from a bottom surface of the second end of the blade adapter and having an inclined surface, a third connection portion located on a side of the second end of the blade adapter and a third protrusion extending from the third connection portion, the engaging portion engaged with the second end of the spine, and the blade adapter being received in the reception chamber, the second connection portion exposed from the second end of the spine, the third connection portion located on the side of the second end of the blade adapter, a frame being formed by the blade adapter, the spine and the handle, a blade having a first end thereof connected to the tension device and a second end of the blade connected to the third protrusion of the third connection portion of the blade adapter;
 wherein two openings are defined in a side of the blade adapter and located close to the first end of the blade adapter, the engaging portion is located between the two openings.

       7. The hacksaw as claimed in claim 6 , wherein the third connection portion extends from the side of the second end of the blade adapter and bends an angle, a gap is defined between the third connection portion and the side of the second end of the blade adapter, a threaded hole is defined in the third connection portion.
