Abstract
A method of inhibiting cellular activation by insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) in a subject in need thereof (e.g., a subject afflicted with cancer, atherosclerosis, diabetic retinopathy or other disease) comprises administering an antagonist that inhibits the binding of IAP to SHPS-1 to the subject in an amount effective to inhibit cellular activation by IGF-1. Compounds and compositions for carrying out such methods are also described.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedThat which is claimed is:
1. A method of inhibiting diabetic retinopathy in a subject, comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of a monoclonal antibody that specifically binds an epitope within amino acids 71-80 of the human IAP protein.
2. A method of inhibiting diabetic retinopathy in a subject, comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of an antibody selected from the group consisting of (a) the monoclonal antibody produced by the hybridoma cell line having ATCC accession number PTA-13161, and (b) a monoclonal antibody that competes for binding to the same epitope as the epitope bound by a monoclonal antibody produced by the hybridoma cell line having ATCC accession number PTA-13161.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the antibody is administered by subcutaneous injection or intravenous infusion.
4. The method of claim 2 , wherein the antibody is administered by subcutaneous injection or intravenous infusion.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
