Abstract

A cement product is disclosed. The cement product includes clinker defined by a feedstock material and a ladle metallurgical facility slag material derived from a ladle metallurgical facility steel production system. A system and method for manufacturing clinker is also disclosed.

1. A system for manufacturing a cement product, comprising:
 a ladle metallurgical facility steel production system that produces a ladle metallurgical facility slag, 
 a rotary kiln defining a feed end and a heat-end, 
 a first conveyor communicatively-coupled to the ladle metallurgical facility steel production system, wherein the first conveyor receives the ladle metallurgical facility slag produced by the ladle metallurgical facility steel production system, wherein the first conveyor is communicatively-coupled to the rotary kiln for delivering the ladle metallurgical facility slag from the ladle metallurgical facility steel production system to the rotary kiln, and 
 a second conveyor that conveys a feedstock material to the rotary kiln, wherein the rotary kiln heats said feedstock material and said a ladle metallurgical facility slag to define clinker. 
 
     
     
       2. The system according to  claim 1  further comprising
 a controller that respectively and individually controls the delivery speed of said first and second conveyors to define a proportion of feedstock material to ladle metallurgical facility slag. 
 
     
     
       3. The system according to  claim 1  further comprising
 a grinder that grinds said feedstock material prior to being introduced into said feed end. 
 
     
     
       4. The system according to  claim 1  further comprising:
 a crusher that reduces a particle diameter of the ladle metallurgical facility slag to approximately a 1.5″ or less diameter, and 
 a screener that subsequently passes approximately 70% of the crushed ladle metallurgical facility slag. 
 
     
     
       5. The system according to  claim 1  further comprising:
 a pre-heater that pre-heats one or more of the ladle metallurgical facility slag and feedstock material prior to being introduced into the rotary kiln. 
 
     
     
       6. The system according to  claim 1 , further comprising:
 an intermediate feed zone that permits introduction of the ladle metallurgical facility slag into the rotary kiln, wherein the intermediate feed zone is formed in the rotary kiln between the feed end and the heat-end, but before a flame fueled by a fuel source proximate the heat-end.
