Abstract

The present invention is directed generally to container for reconfigurable products and, in particular, to a display package operable to display a product in multiple configurations. The display package may include product housing portions adapted to slide from a first, adjacent position, where one product portion is positioned adjacent to another product portion, to a second, separated position, where one product portion is spaced from the other product portion. The display package may include a plurality of product housings adapted to rotate with respect to each other along a common axis such that product portions within the product housings may be selectively aligned to form desired configurations of a completed, displayed product. The display package may include a stationary housing section and a movable housing section adapted to rotate with respect to the stationary housing section such that the product portions within the movable housing section may be selectively aligned with the product portions of the stationary housing section.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1. A reconfigurable product display package comprising:
 a first housing containing a separate first product portion and a separate second product portion, said first product portion and said second product portion are enclosed within said first housing;
 a second housing containing a separate third product portion enclosed within the second housing, said third product portion being complementary to each of said first and second product portions, the first and second housings being separate elements;
 wherein at least one of said first and second housings is rotatable with respect to the other of said first housing and said second housing from a first display position, in which said first product portion and said third product portion are displayed in adjacent relationship to a user to represent a completed product in a first configuration, to a second display position, in which said second product portion and said third product portion are displayed in adjacent relationship to a user to represent a completed product in a second configuration; and
 wherein the product portions in the first housing selectively couple to the product portion of the second housing to form a completed product when the product portions are removed from their respective housings.

     2. The reconfigurable product display package of claim 1 , wherein both said first housing and said second housing rotate with respect to one another.

     3. The reconfigurable product display package of claim 1 further comprising a base and a frame extending from said base, said frame adapted to support said first and second housings.

     4. The reconfigurable product display package of claim 3 , wherein said frame rotatably supports at least one of said first housing and said second housing.

     5. The reconfigurable product display package of claim 1 , wherein:
 the second housing contains a separate fourth product portion complementary to each of said first and second product portions,
 at least one of said first and second housings is adapted to move from a third display position, in which said first product portion and said fourth product portion are displayed in adjacent relationship to a user, to a fourth display position, in which said second product portion and said fourth product portion are displayed in adjacent relationship to a user, and
 the product portions in the first housing are further configured to selectively couple to the fourth product portion to form a completed product when the product portions are removed from their respective housings.

     6. The reconfigurable product display package of claim 5 , wherein both said first housing and said second housing rotate with respect to one another.

     7. The reconfigurable product display package of claim 1 wherein:
 said first, second, and third product portions each comprise a half of a toy figurine; and
 the product portions of the first housing selectively couple with the product portion of the second housing to form a completed figurine.

     8. A reconfigurable display package for a product, the reconfigurable display package comprising:
 a product including a plurality of separate interchangeable product portions;
 a base;
 a frame attached to the base;
 a first display housing coupled to the frame, the first display housing comprising a transparent portion;
 a second display housing coupled to the frame, the second display housing comprising a transparent portion, the first and second display housings being separate elements;
 wherein at least one of the display housings is rotatably mounted to the frame to rotate relative the other of the display housings, wherein the plurality of separate interchangeable product portions are oriented within the display housings such that multiple configurations of a completed product are selectively displayable to a viewer via rotation of the at least one of the display housings, and wherein the separate interchangeable product portions are selectively coupled to form a completed product when removed from their respective display housings.

     9. The reconfigurable display package of claim 8 , wherein both of the first and second display housings are configured to rotate relative to each other.

     10. The reconfigurable display package of claim 8 , wherein:
 each display housing comprises a transparent shell including a plurality of compartments;
 each compartment contains a separate interchangeable product portion.

     11. The reconfigurable display package of claim 8 wherein:
 said separate interchangeable product portions comprise halves of a toy figurine;
 the separate interchangeable product portion contained in the first display housing is a first half of the toy figurine;
 the separate interchangeable product portion contained in the second display housing is a second half of the toy figurine; and
 the first half of the toy figurine selectively connects to the second half of the toy figurine to form a completed figurine.

     12. The reconfigurable display package of claim 9 , wherein rotation of the first display housing relative to the second display housing selectively aligns different ones of said separate interchangeable product portions to display a complete toy figure.

     13. The reconfigurable display package of claim 1 , wherein the separate product portions are viewable through the housings.

     14. The reconfigurable display package of claim 8 , wherein:
 the first display housing contains a first set of separate interchangeable product portions;
 the second display housing contains a second set of separate interchangeable product portions that are complementary to the product portions of the first set; and
 each of the separate interchangeable product portions contained in the first display housing connect to each of the separate interchangeable product portions contained in the second display housing.
