Abstract

A method of cleaning a surface including the steps of providing a cationic sponge material containing cationic radicals. Exposing particles and charges carried by the surface to be cleaned to the cationic radicals. Attracting and retaining particles and charges on the surface to be cleaned to the cationic radicals.

Having fully described the invention in such clear and concise terms as to enable those skilled in the art to understand and practice the same, the invention claimed is: 
     
       1. A method of cleaning a surface comprising the steps of: providing a cationic sponge material having a plurality of ionic hydroxylated polymers, containing cationic radicals, cross-linked to a plurality of hydroxylated polmers;   exposing particles and charges carried by the surface to be cleaned to the cationic radicals; and   attracting and retaining particles and charges on the surface to be cleaned to the cationic radicals.   
     
     
       2. A method as claimed in claim 1 wherein the step of exposing further includes positioning the cationic sponge material adjacent to and in contact with the surface to be cleaned. 
     
     
       3. A method as claimed in claim 1 further including the step of flushing collected particles and charges from the cationic sponge using ionic reagents. 
     
     
       4. A method as claimed in claim 1 further including flushing the surface with at least one solution from a group containing pH reagents and miscellaneous buffers, cationic reagents, neutral reagents, anionic reagents and diluents.
