Abstract

The present invention provides papillomavirus DNA, and more particularly DNA probes derived from papillomavirus. The present invention also provides procedures for the use of DNA derived from papillomavirus in the in vitro diagnosis of papillomavirus infections.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
It is claimed:

       1. A composition comprising at least one immunogenic polypeptide of a papillomavirus, wherein said at least one polypeptide comprises a sequence of an L2 protein of said papillomavirus, said L2 protein lacking 0 to 25% of its residues at its N-terminal end, and wherein said papillomavirus is selected from HPV1A, HPV2d, HPV10a, HPV10b, HPV14a, HPV14b, HPV15, HPV16, HPV17a, HPV17b, HPV18, HPV19, HPV20, HPV21, HPV22, HPV23, HPV24, HPV28, HPV29, HPV31, HPV32, HPV IP2 and HPV IP4.

       2. A composition comprising at least one immunogenic polypeptide of a papillomavirus, wherein said at least one polypeptide: (i) comprises a sequence of an L2 protein of said papillomavirus, said L2 protein lacking 0 to 25% of its residues at its N-terminal end, and, (ii) is the expression product in E. coli host cells of a recombinant nucleic acid comprising an L2 gene; and wherein said papillomavirus is selected from HPV1A, HPV2d, HPV10a, HPV10b, HPV14a, HPV14b, HPV15, HPV16, HPV17a, HPV17b, HPV18, HPV19, HPV20, HPV21, HPV22, HPV23, HPV24, HPV28, HPV29, HPV31, HPV32, HPV IP2 and HPV IP4.

       3. A composition according to claim 1 or 2, wherein said polypeptide comprises said sequence of an L2 protein fused to another polypeptide sequence.

       4. The composition according to claim 1 or 2 further comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient.
