Human mts-1 protein
Abstract
The present invention is directed towards the diagnosis of malignant cancer by detection of the mts-1 mRNA or the mts-1 protein, encoded by the mts-1 gene. The present invention contemplates the use of recombinant mts-1 DNA and antibodies directed against the mts-1 protein to diagnose the metastatic potential of several types of tumor cells, including, for example, thyroid, epithelial, lung, liver and kidney tumor cells. The present invention is also directed to mammalian cell lines and tumors with high and low metastatic potential which have been developed to serve as useful model systems for in vitro and in vivo anti-metastasis drug screening.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1. An isolated human mts-1 polypeptide or an antigenic fragment of human mts-1 polypeptide which fragment generates antibodies which detect human mts-1 protein.
2. The isolated polypeptide of claim 1 wherein said polypeptide has an amino acid sequence comprising SEQ ID NO:2.
3. The isolated polypeptide of claim 1 wherein said polypeptide has an amino acid sequence comprising any one of SEQ ID NO:4-7.
4. A pharmaceutical composition comprising a therapeutically-effective amount of an isolated human mts-1 protein, or an antigenic fragment of human mts-1 protein, which fragment generates antibodies which detect human mts-1 protein, in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
5. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 4 wherein the therapeutically-effective amount of the compound is within the range of from about 0.5 μg to 2000 mg per kilogram of body weight per day.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
