Abstract

The use of compounds of formula (I) ##STR1## wherein R represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms and their acid addition salts, for use in the treatment of prostatic cancer or benign prostatic hypertrophy.

I claim: 
     
       1. A method of treating a patient suffering from prostatic cancer or benign prostatic hypertrophy comprising the step of administering to said patient an effective dosage of compound of formula (I) ##STR3## wherein R represents a hydrogen atom or alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or an acid addition salt thereof. 
     
     
       2. A method according to claim 1 in which R is hydrogen. 
     
     
       3. A method according to claim 1 in which the dosage is from 200 to 2000 mg twice daily.
