Abstract

A swing check valve having a readily replaceable valve seat and having a cage surrounding the disc in the final closing movement of the disc sized to guide the disc evenly onto the seat.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

       1. A swing check valve, comprising: a tubular valve body having first and second ends; a first ring in the valve body having one end thereof substantialIy coterminous with the first end of the body and the second end thereof forming a valve seat having a seating face extending normal to the axis of the valve body; a substantially round valve disc in the valve body having a seating face sized to engage the seating face of the seat and having a hanger pin thereon extending parallel with the seating face thereof; and a second ring in the valve body abutting the first ring and forming a cage surrounding the disc when the seating face of the disc engages the seating face of the valve seat; the end face of said second ring facing the valve seat having a pair of grooves therein receiving the opposite end portion of the hinge pin for pivotally supporting the valve disc in the valve body, and the opposite end face of said second ring being substantially coterminous with the second end of the valve body.

       2. A swing check valve as defined in claim 1 wherein one end of the valve body is provided with a counterbore providing a shoulder facing the respective end of the valve body; one of said rings has a shoulder on the outer periphery thereof sized to engage the shoulder in the valve body; and wherein the opposite end of the valve body is crimped against the respective ring.

       3. A swing check valve as defined in claim 1 wherein a counterbore is formed in each end of the valve body to provide a shoulder therein facing the respective end of the valve body; and wherein: said first and second rings are each provided with shoulders on the outer peripheries thereof mating with the respective shoulders in the valve body.

       4. A swing check valve as defined in claim 1 characterized further to include screw means for securing said first and second rings together.

       5. A swing check valve as defined in claim 1 wherein the ends of the valve body are crimped against the respective faces of said first and second rings.
