Abstract

A thermal medium oil comprising at least one monosubstituted naphthalene derivative such as beta -(1,1-dimethyloctyl) naphthalene, beta -(1,1-dimethylhexyl) naphthalene and 2-t.-amylnaphthalene.

What is claimed is: 
     
       1. A thermal medium oil consisting essentially of at least one monosubstituted naphthalene of formula ##STR7## wherein R 1  and R 2  are the same, or different and are each methyl or ethyl. 
     
     
       2. A thermal medium oil according to claim 1, wherein said monosubstituted naphthalene is beta-monosubstituted naphthalene of formula ##STR8## wherein R 1  and R 2  are the same, or different and are each methyl or ethyl.
