Abstract
A flashing assembly for use between two roof windows mounted in an inclined roof structure, a group of roof windows mounted using such a flashing assembly, and a method for mounting such a flashing assembly between two roof windows. The flashing assembly comprises a first and second flashing element each comprising a first section extending along a width axis, where the first section of the second flashing element comprises a plurality of parallel indications to guide a removal of part of the first section, and the first section of the first flashing element comprises a pocket for receiving the first section of the second flashing element. The pocket is delimited by two legs, where the more narrow of the two legs has a width which exceeds a distance between the parallel indications.

A flashing assembly for use between two roof windows mounted next to each other in an inclined roof structure and which each comprises a frame and a pane element, said flashing assembly comprising a first flashing element configured for extending along a frame member of the frame of a first roof window and a second flashing element configured for extending along a frame member of the frame of a second roof window, each flashing element comprising a first section and a second section contiguous with the first section said first section extending along a width axis of the flashing element being configured for extending between the first roof window and the second roof window, and having an interior side configured for facing the roof structure, and said second section extending in an exterior direction along a height axis of the flashing element and having an interior side configured for facing the frame of one of the two roof windows,
wherein the first section of the second flashing element comprises a plurality of parallel indications to guide a removal of part of the first section, which parallel indications extend along a length axis of the second flashing element and are spaced apart at a distance D 1 in the width axis, and the first section of the first flashing element comprises a first leg and a second leg extending along the width axis and being located at a distance from each other measured along the height axis thereby delimiting a pocket which pocket is open in a direction facing away from the second section of the first flashing element, the first section of the second flashing element fits into the pocket of the first flashing element, and in that the narrowest of the first leg and the second leg has a width P 1 which is equal to or greater than the distance D 1 between the parallel indications of the first section of the second flashing element.
2 . The flashing assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the width P 1 of the narrowest of the first leg and the second leg, is 1 to 3 times the distance D 1 between the parallel indications.
3 . The flashing assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the first leg of the first section is proximal to the second section of the first flashing element and the second leg is distal to the second section of the first flashing element as seen along the first section,
and the first leg is more narrow than the second leg,
4 . The flashing assembly according to claim 3 , wherein the first section of the first flashing element has a flange protruding from the second leg in the height axis.
5 . The flashing assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the widest of the first leg and the second leg has a width P 2 which is at least 1.2 times the width P 1 .
6 . The flashing assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the distance D 1 is 5 to 20 mm.
7 . The flashing assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the width P 1 is 5 to 30 mm.
8 . The flashing assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the first section of the first flashing element has a width M 1 , the first section of the second flashing element has a width M 2 , and the width M 1 is less than the width M 2 .
9 . The flashing assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the first section of the first flashing element further comprises a main leg which main leg is contiguous with the second section and with the first leg, and the width P 1 is less than a width of the main leg,
wherein an intermediate flashing element is attached to the main leg.
10 . The flashing assembly according to claim 1 , wherein a distance between the first leg and the second leg of the first flashing element is less than 5 times a material thickness of the first section of the second flashing element,
11 . The flashing assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the parallel indications of the second flashing assembly is formed by a structure selected from: notches, engravings, incisions, etchings, prints, and grooves.
12 . The flashing assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the second flashing assembly comprises at least three parallel indications in the first section.
13 . The flashing assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the two mutually most distal of the parallel indications, are positioned at least 40 mm apart along the width axis,
14 . A group of roof windows including at least two roof windows mounted side by side in an inclined roof structure with a flashing assembly according to claim 1 .
15 . A method for mounting a flashing assembly between two roof windows, which are mounted next to each other in an inclined roof structure and which each comprise a frame and a pane element, said method comprising:
providing a flashing assembly comprising a first flashing element configured for extending along a frame member of the frame of a first roof window and a second flashing element configured for extending along a frame member of the frame of a second roof window, each flashing element comprising a first section and a second section contiguous with the first section, said first section extending along a width axis of the flashing element, being configured for extending between the first roof window and the second roof window, and having an interior side configured for facing the inclined roof structure, and said second section extending in an exterior direction along a height axis of the flashing element and having an interior side configured for facing the frame of one of the two roof windows, wherein the first section of the second flashing element comprises a plurality of parallel indications to guide a removal of part of the first section, which parallel indications extend along a length axis of the second flashing element and are spaced apart at a distance D 1 in the width axis, and the first section of the first flashing element comprises a first leg and a second leg extending along the width axis and being located at a distance from each other measured along the height axis thereby delimiting a pocket which pocket is open in a direction facing away from the second section of the first flashing element, the first section of the second flashing element fits into the pocket of the first flashing element, and in that the narrowest of the first leg and the second leg has a width P 1 which is equal to or greater than the distance D 1 between the parallel indications of the first section of the second flashing element, adapting a width of the second flashing element to a spacing between adjacent frame members of the two roof windows if necessary, by separating part from the first section of the second flashing element along one of the plurality of parallel indications , arranging the first flashing element so that it extends along a frame member of the frame of a first roof window with the first section extending between the two roof windows, with the interior side of the first section facing the roof structure, with the second section extending along the height axis in the exterior direction, and with the interior side of the second section facing the frame of the first roof window, arranging the second flashing element ( 8 ) so that it extends along the frame member of the frame of the second roof window with the first section extending between the two roof windows, with the interior side of the first section facing the roof structure with the second section extending along the height axis in the exterior direction, and with the interior side of the second section facing the frame of the second roof window, wherein the first section of the second flashing element is inserted into the pocket of the first section of the first flashing element.
16 . The flashing assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the width P 1 of the narrowest of the first leg and the second leg is 1.1 to 2 times the distance D 1 between the parallel indications.
17 . The flashing assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the first leg of the first section is proximal to the second section of the first flashing element and the second leg is distal to the second section of the first flashing element as seen along the first section,
and the first leg is more narrow than the second leg, and wherein the first leg is located above the second leg of the first flashing element.
18 . The flashing assembly according to claim 3 , wherein the first section of the first flashing element has a flange protruding from the second leg in the height axis, and towards the first leg.
19 . The flashing assembly according to claim 2 , wherein the widest of the first leg and the second leg has a width P 2 which is at least 1.2 times the width P 1 , the width P 2 being less than or equal to 2 times the width P 1 .
