Abstract
The present invention relates to a laundry treating apparatus that, if the eccentricity (unbalance) occurring in a drum during a dehydration operation is equal to or greater than a reference value, controls a drive unit to perform the dehydration operation at a safe speed lower than the dehydration speed.

exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A laundry treating apparatus comprising:
a cabinet; a tub disposed inside the cabinet to store water therein; a drum rotatably disposed inside the tub to accommodate laundry therein; a driver coupled to the tub to rotate the drum; and a controller configured to control the driver to perform a dehydration cycle of the laundry by rotating the drum at a maximum speed achievable in the dehydration cycle, wherein the controller is configured to control the driver to perform the dehydration cycle at a safe speed lower than the maximum speed based on a degree of eccentricity (unbalance) occurring in the drum during the dehydration cycle being equal to or greater than a reference value.
2 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising a display disposed on the cabinet and configured to display a state of the dehydration cycle,
wherein the display is configured to display completion information indicating that the dehydration cycle is completed at the safe speed based on the dehydration cycle being completed at the safe speed.
3 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the display is configured to indicate a state of the dehydration cycle performed at the safe speed based on the dehydration cycle being performed at the safe speed.
4 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to control the driver to temporarily stop the dehydration cycle based on the degree of eccentricity (unbalance) being sensed to be equal to or greater than the reference value by a reference number of times.
5 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 4 , further comprising a display disposed on the cabinet and configured to display a state of the dehydration cycle,
wherein the display is configured to externally display at least one of stop information indicating that the dehydration cycle is stopped, eccentricity information indicating that the degree of eccentricity is equal to or greater than the reference value, and recommendation information requesting to perform the dehydration cycle at the safe speed.
6 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 5 , further comprising an input unit disposed on the cabinet and configured to receive a command for performing the dehydration cycle at the safe speed and transmit the command to the controller,
wherein the controller is configured to control the driver to perform the dehydration cycle at the safe speed when the input unit is pressed.
7 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the input unit is disposed inside the display.
8 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the display is equipped as a touch panel and configured to selectively display the input unit.

The laundry treating apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the controller is configured to control the driver to perform the dehydration cycle at the safe speed based on the stop information, the eccentricity information, and the recommendation information being displayed on the display for a reference time or longer.
10 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the safe speed is set to a speed equal to or higher than a speed allowing the drum to stick to the laundry and not to be separated therefrom.
11 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the safe speed is set to a speed equal to or lower than a resonant speed allowing the drum to resonate inside the cabinet.

The laundry treating apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to control the driver to perform the dehydration cycle at a minimum speed lower than the safe speed based on the degree of eccentricity being sensed to be equal to or greater than the reference value by a reference number of times even based on the dehydration cycle being performed at the safe speed.
13 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 12 , further comprising a display disposed on the cabinet and configured to externally display a state of the dehydration cycle,
wherein the display is configured to externally display completion information indicating that the dehydration cycle has been completed at the minimum speed based on the dehydration cycle being completed at the minimum speed.
14 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 13 , further comprising an input unit disposed on the cabinet and configured to receive a command for performing the dehydration cycle at the minimum speed and transmit the command to the controller,
wherein the display is configured to display at least one of stop information indicating that the dehydration cycle is stopped, eccentricity information indicating that the degree of eccentricity is equal to or greater than the reference value, and recommendation information requesting to perform the dehydration cycle at the minimum speed, wherein the controller is configured to control the driver to perform the dehydration cycle at the minimum speed when the input unit is pressed.

The laundry treating apparatus of claim 14 , wherein the controller is configured to control the driver to perform the dehydration cycle at the safe speed based on the stop information, the eccentricity information, and the recommendation information being displayed on the display for a reference time or longer.

The laundry treating apparatus of claim 12 , wherein the controller is configured to control the driver to stop the rotation of the drum and abandon the dehydration cycle based on the degree of eccentricity being sensed to be equal to or greater than the reference value by the reference number of times even when the dehydration cycle is performed at the minimum speed.
17 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 16 , further comprising a display disposed on the cabinet and configured to display a state of the dehydration cycle,
