Hot Pressed Tobacco Substrate
Abstract
A method brings an aerosol releasing substrate for use in a heat-not-burn device into a stable shape, wherein the aerosol releasing substrate contains: 20-70% aerosol former as well as tobacco particles and/or an inhalable agent, which contains at least one of a stimulant and/or a flavor. The aerosol releasing substrate also contains a gelling agent for gelling the aerosol releasing substrate and a degradation preventing and/or thickening stabilizer. The method includes the steps of: a) producing the aerosol releasing substrate and b) pressing the aerosol releasing substrate with pressure and heat and by using a mold into a desired shape. An aerosol releasing substrate for use in a heat-not-burn device is an air permeable compressed mass and includes tobacco particles and/or an inhalable agent, a gelling agent, a degradation preventing and/or thickening stabilizer, as well as 20-70% aerosol former.

exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . An aerosol releasing substrate for use in a heat-not-burn device, the aerosol releasing substrate being air permeable and comprising:
at least one of tobacco particles or an inhalable agent, the at least one of the tobacco particles or the inhalable agent containing at least one of a stimulant or a flavor, a gelling agent for gelling the aerosol releasing substrate, at least one of a degradation preventing or thickening stabilizer, and an aerosol former included in an amount ranging from 20% to 70% by weight of the aerosol releasing substrate, wherein the aerosol releasing substrate is an agglomerated granular mass.
2 . The substrate according to claim 1 , wherein the gelling agent is a non-protein containing polysaccharide.
3 . The substrate according to claim 1 , wherein the aerosol former comprises at least one of glycerol, propylene glycol, ethanol, or water.
4 . The substrate according to claim 1 , wherein the aerosol former comprises propylene glycol and glycerol, and a ratio of the propylene glycol to the glycerol is between 80:20 and 20:80.
5 . The substrate according to claim 1 , wherein the aerosol releasing substrate has a sheet shape.
6 . The substrate according to claim 5 , wherein the sheet comprises grooves or recesses on at least one side of the sheet.
7 . The substrate according to claim 1 , wherein the aerosol releasing substrate has a thickness greater than 0.1 mm and smaller than 5 mm.
8 . The substrate according to claim 7 , wherein the aerosol releasing substrate has a width greater than 5 mm and smaller than 30 mm, and a length greater than 5 mm and smaller than 30 mm.
9 . The substrate according to claim 1 , wherein the gelling agent is included in an amount greater than 2% and smaller than 12% by weight of the aerosol releasing substrate.
10 . The substrate according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one of the degradation preventing or thickening stabilizer is included in an amount greater than 8% and smaller than 30% by weight of the aerosol releasing substrate.
11 . The substrate according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one of the degradation preventing or thickening stabilizer comprises cellulose or a cellulose derivate.
12 . A method of using the substrate according to claim 1 , comprising:
heating the substrate by an oven at volatilization temperatures of the aerosol former in a heat-not-burn device to deliver aerosol.
13 . The substrate according to claim 1 , wherein the aerosol releasing substrate comprises particles having a size of greater than 0.1 mm.
14 . The substrate according to claim 13 , wherein the size of the particles ranges from 0.7 mm to 2 mm.
15 . The substrate according to claim 13 , wherein the aerosol releasing substrate comprises interstices between the particles.
16 . The substrate according to claim 1 , wherein a paper sheet layer is wrapped around the aerosol releasing substrate.
17 . The substrate according to claim 16 , wherein the paper sheet layer has a grammage greater than 5 g/m 2 .
18 . The substrate according to claim 16 , wherein the paper sheet layer has an air permeability above 1,100 l/m 2 .
