Abstract
A permeable paving system with a specific multilayer structure, wherein a sub-base layer of crushed drain rocks, a base layer of granite rocks, a layer of coarse sand, & a top layer overlaid with permeable surface material, is provided to improve storm water management by allowing water to permeate through its specific multi-layered structure, thereby reducing surface runoff and enhancing groundwater recharge.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A multi-layered permeable paving system to facilitate effective storm water infiltration and prevent surface runoff, comprises:
a sub-base layer of crushed drain rocks, wherein the said sub-base layer is configured to form the foundation of the said multi-layered permeable paving system; a base layer of granite rocks above the said sub-base layer, wherein the said base layer is configured to provide structural stability and further improve storm water drainage through the said base layer; a layer of coarse sand above the said base layer, wherein the said layer of coarse sand is configured to filter debris and sediments and prevent clogging in the said sub-base layer and the said base layer; & a top layer overlaid with permeable surface material above the said layer of coarse sand, wherein the permeable surface material consists of a plurality of permeable pavers, wherein the said permeable pavers are positioned to form voids between the said permeable pavers, wherein the said voids are filled up with fillers to facilitate effective storm water infiltration and prevent surface runoff by allowing water to seep through the said multi-layered permeable paving system.
2 . The multi-layered permeable paving system of claim 1 , further comprises a layer of a permeable textile material underneath the sub-base layer, wherein the said permeable textile material layer is configured to prevent clogging and maintain the separation of layers in the said multi-layered permeable paving system.
3 . The multi-layered permeable paving system of claim 1 , wherein the said permeable textile material is geotextile fabric or filter fabric.
4 . The multi-layered permeable paving system of claim 1 , wherein the said crushed drain rocks have an angular, semi-circular, circular, or a combination thereof configured to create voids between the said drain rocks to increase the water permeability through the said multi-layered permeable paving system.
5 . The multi-layered permeable paving system of claim 1 , wherein the said crushed drain rocks comprises granite, limestone, recycled concrete, trap rock, or a combination thereof.
6 . The multi-layered permeable paving system of claim 1 , wherein the sub-base layer of crushed drain rocks is preferably about 4-5 inches in depth for patios or walkways and preferably about 6-7 inches for driveways.
7 . The multi-layered permeable paving system of claim 1 , wherein the size of the said crushed drain rocks used in the said sub-base layer is about ¾ inch, 1 inch, 1.5 inch in diameter, or a combination thereof.
8 . The multi-layered permeable paving system of claim 1 , wherein the said base layer of said granite rocks is preferably about 1-2 inches in depth for patios and walkways, and about 3-4 inches for driveways.
9 . The multi-layered permeable paving system of claim 1 , wherein the diameter of the said granite rocks used in the said base layer is about ¼ inch, ¾ inch, ½ inch, or a combination thereof.
10 . The multi-layered permeable paving system of claim 1 , wherein the granite rocks comprises granite, decomposed granite, crushed granite screenings, crushed granite aggregates, or a combination thereof.
11 . The multi-layered permeable paving system of claim 1 , wherein the said layer of the said coarse sand may be mixed with at least one of fine gravel, crushed stone screenings, porous polymeric sand to increase stability and load-bearing capacity of the permeable paving system.
12 . The multi-layered permeable paving system of claim 1 , wherein the said permeable pavers are preferably made of materials such as porous concrete, permeable asphalt, or a combination of gravel, pebbles, natural mulch, or a combination thereof.
13 . The multi-layered permeable paving system of claim 1 , wherein the said voids may be filled with fillers selected from filler gravel, drought tolerant covers, or a combination thereof.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
