A single part child-resistant cap
Abstract
The present invention relates to a child-resistant cap ( 100 ) designed to securely close a container ( 200 ) with a locking system that requires adult-like manual dexterity to open. The cap features a roof ( 50 ) that engages with the mouth ( 52 ) of the container, at least one tab ( 24 ) connected to a base body ( 42 ) via a flexible member ( 30 ), and a protruded edge ( 60 ) that locks onto the transfer bead ( 40 ). The cap also includes bolting means ( 34 ) that interacts with holding means ( 36 ) and a barrier wall ( 38 ). The arm structure ( 28 ) provides flexibility to the roof ( 50 ), allowing it to adjust to various container types. An optional tamper-evident seal member ( 72 ) indicates prior opening. The cap ( 100 ) requires pressing the tab ( 24 ) while unscrewing to unlock, ensuring child resistance. The single-part design simplifies manufacturing, reduces costs, and makes it suitable for various hazardous substances.

21 . A child resistant cap adapted to securely close a container having a mouth, a neck portion, a shoulder portion, thread along the neck portion, and a transfer bead on the neck portion near the shoulder portion, the child resistant cap comprising:
a roof adapted to engage with the mouth of the container; a base body extends from peripheral of the roof and corresponds with the neck portion, and a distal portion opposite to the roof defines an opening end; a tab provided on the base body and being connected to the base body, the tab comprising a projecting member adapted to operably engage with the thread of the container; and a protruded edge disposed along the opening end of the cap, adapted to engage with the transfer bead.
22 . The cap as claimed in claim 21 , wherein the base body defines an opening, and the tab is disposed in the opening.
23 . The cap as claimed in claim 21 , wherein the tab comprises a flexible member, wherein the tab is connected to the base body through the flexible member.
24 . The cap as claimed in claim 21 , wherein the tab defines an open boundary along with the opening on the base body, and the tab comprises a bolting member along the open boundary of the tab, defining an open end along a peripheral of the bolting member;
the base body defines a barrier wall corresponding to the bolting member; and the barrier wall defines holding member, wherein the bolting member is adapted to detachably engage with the holding member.
25 . The cap as claimed in claim 24 , wherein the bolting member of the tab defines a recess adapted to detachably engage with an extended edge defined along the holding member.
26 . The cap as claimed in claim 21 , wherein the tab is shaped in a triangular, circular, square, or hexagonal shape or a combination thereof and the opening has a corresponding shape thereto.
27 . The cap as claimed in claim 21 , wherein the cap comprises a flexing arm structure connecting the roof and the base body, wherein, when the cap engages with the container, the flexing arm structure flexes and presses the roof against the mouth of the container.
28 . The cap as claimed in claim 27 , wherein the flexing arm structure comprising one or more flexing arm members defining one or more windows between the rood and the body member.
29 . The cap as defined in claim 27 , wherein the cross-section of the flexing arm structure having one or more angled bends; one or more rounded bends; or one or more combination thereof.
30 . The cap as claimed in claim 21 , wherein the cap defines a slit along the distal end of the base body.
31 . The cap as claimed in claim 21 , wherein the shape of the cross-section of the protruded edge is selected from the group consisting of round, edged, curved, straight and a combination thereof.
32 . The cap as claimed in claim 21 , wherein the base body is configured in a cylindrical shape, pleated cylindrical shape or polygonal cylindrical shape.
33 . The cap as claimed in claim 21 , wherein the tab is provided with embossed bodies.
34 . The cap as claimed in claim 21 , wherein the cap is made of a polymer, plastic, combination thereof or a material selected from the group consisting of polyethylene,
35 . The cap as claimed in claim 22 , wherein the flexible member defines a curvature in C-shaped or S-shaped configuration.
36 . The cap as claimed in claim 21 , wherein the projecting member comprises one or more elongated-strip extension structures or one or more conical extension structures.
37 . The cap as claimed in claim 21 , wherein the cap is provided with one or more embossed patterns; one or more debossed patterns; or one or more combinations thereof, for providing information to a user.
38 . The cap as claimed in claim 27 further comprising a tamper-evident seal member disposed in the slit defining a tear line therebetween and releasably attached to the base body, said tamper-evident seal member comprising:
at least one hook adapted to engage with the transfer bead of the container; and
a handle for detaching said tamper-evident seal member along the tear line from the base body.
39 . The cap as claimed in claim 21 , wherein the roof further comprises a plug member adapted to concentrically engage with the mouth of the container.
