Abstract

The present technology generally relates to a puck comprising a body and a tracking device receivable in the body. The tracking device is generally aligned with a center of gravity of the body of the puck and with a geometrical center of the body of the puck.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A puck comprising:
 a body made from a unitary part, the body defining a body cavity that extends radially inwardly from a peripheral surface of the body;   a tracking device being at least in part receivable in the cavity body, and   a cap configured to close an open end of the body cavity;   wherein the tracking device is generally aligned with a center of gravity of the body, and with a geometrical center of the body.   
     
     
         2 . The puck of  claim 1 , wherein at least a part of the tracking device is received in an enclosure. 
     
     
         3 . The puck of  claim 2 , wherein the body cavity is configured to receive the enclosure. 
     
     
         4 . The puck of  claim 2 , wherein the body cavity is generally complementary with the enclosure. 
     
     
         5 . The puck of  claim 1 , wherein the cap has a cap body having a peripheral portion and a protruding portion, the peripheral portion of the cap body being configured to complete a peripheral portion of the body when the cap is connected to the body. 
     
     
         6 . The puck of  claim 5 , wherein the protruding portion defines the cap cavity. 
     
     
         7 . The puck of  claim 6 , wherein the cap cavity is configured to received at least a portion of an enclosure configured to receive at least a portion of the tracking device. 
     
     
         8 . The puck of  claim 7 , wherein the cap is overmolded onto the enclosure. 
     
     
         9 . The puck of  claim 7 , wherein the protruding portion is configured to close the body cavity until the protruding portion is in contact with a recess defined in the body cavity. 
     
     
         10 . The puck of  claim 7 , wherein the protruding portion is configured to receive part of the tracking device therein. 
     
     
         11 . The puck of  claim 10 , wherein the part of the tracking device is at least one of a charging base and a light-emitting device. 
     
     
         12 . The puck of  claim 3 , wherein the body cavity extends from a first surface of the body toward a second surface of the body and at least a portion of the enclosure extends to until the first surface. 
     
     
         13 . The puck of  claim 1 , wherein the cap has a first connecting feature, the body has a second connecting feature, and the cap and the body are connectable via the first and second connecting features. 
     
     
         14 . The puck of  claim 13 , wherein the first connecting feature is a lip and the second connecting feature is a lip-receiving portion. 
     
     
         15 . The puck of  claim 1 , further comprising an isolating layer configured to withstand molding pressures of up to about 15 000 kPa and molding temperatures of up to about 250°C. 
     
     
         16 . The puck of  claim 1 , wherein the cap is connected to the body through a press-fit connection. 
     
     
         17 . The puck of  claim 1 , further comprising an antennae to enhance radio-frequency transmission of the tracking device. 
     
     
         18 . The puck of  claim 1 , being a hockey puck. 
     
     
         19 . A puck comprising:
 a body made from a unitary part, the body defining a body cavity that extends radially inwardly from a peripheral surface of the body;   an enclosure within the body cavity, an outer surface of the enclosure being in direct contact with the body material;   a tracking device being at least in part receivable in the enclosure, and   a cap configured to close an open end of the body cavity.   
     
     
         20 . The puck of  claim 19 , wherein the body cavity extends from a first surface of the body toward a second surface of the body, and at least a portion of the receptacle extends until the first surface.
