Abstract

Baseplates for shoes, wherein the baseplate is removably insertable into a shoe upper, and wherein the baseplate includes a substantially planar body, which is configured to provide stability to the shoe upper, and a plurality of tread elements, which are configured to protrude through a respective opening of a plurality of openings in a bottom portion of the shoe upper when the baseplate is removably inserted into the shoe upper, wherein the plurality of tread elements are unitarily formed with the body.

That which is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A sports shoe comprising:
 (a) a shoe upper comprising a bottom portion;   (b) a shoe baseplate comprising a substantially planar body, the substantially planar body positioned within the shoe upper, the shoe baseplate further comprising a plurality of studs unitarily formed with the substantially planar body, wherein the plurality of studs protrude through the bottom portion of the shoe upper;   (c) wherein the shoe baseplate is fixed to the shoe upper;   (d) wherein the baseplate comprises a flexural modulus of elasticity of at least 1000 N/mm 2  and stabilizes the shoe upper.   
     
     
         2 . The sports shoe of  claim 1  wherein the shoe baseplate extends from a heel region of the shoe upper to a toe region of the shoe upper. 
     
     
         3 . The sports shoe of  claim 2  wherein the shoe baseplate comprises a polyamide, a polyether-block-amide (PEBA), or a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) material. 
     
     
         4 . The sports shoe of  claim 2  wherein the shoe baseplate comprises a polyamide material. 
     
     
         5 . The sports shoe of  claim 2  wherein the shoe baseplate is a 3D-printed or molded shoe baseplate. 
     
     
         6 . The sports shoe of  claim 2  wherein at least some of the studs are frustum shaped, cone shaped, pyramidal shaped, hemispherical shaped, or rib shaped. 
     
     
         7 . The sports shoe of  claim 2  wherein the sports shoe does not comprise a separate midsole component. 
     
     
         8 . The sports shoe of  claim 7  wherein the sports shoe does not comprise a separate outsole component. 
     
     
         9 . The sports shoe of  claim 2  wherein the shoe baseplate comprises a drag modulus of elasticity of at least 1000 N/mm 2 . 
     
     
         10 . The sports shoe of  claim 2  wherein the shoe baseplate comprises a tensile strength of at least 40 N/mm 2 . 
     
     
         11 . The sports shoe of  claim 2  wherein the shoe baseplate comprises a Charpy impact strength of at least 40 KJ/mm 2 . 
     
     
         12 . A sports shoe comprising:
 (a) a shoe upper comprising a bottom portion;   (b) a shoe baseplate comprising a substantially planar body, the substantially planar body positioned within the shoe upper, wherein the substantially planar body covers substantially all of the bottom portion of the shoe upper, the shoe baseplate further comprising a plurality of studs unitarily formed with the substantially planar body, wherein the plurality of studs protrude through the bottom portion of the shoe upper;   (c) wherein the shoe baseplate is fixed to the shoe upper;   (d) wherein the baseplate comprises a flexural modulus of elasticity of at least 1000 N/mm 2  and stabilizes the shoe upper.   
     
     
         13 . The sports shoe of  claim 12  wherein the shoe baseplate comprises a polyamide, a polyether-block-amide (PEBA), or a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) material. 
     
     
         14 . The sports shoe of  claim 13  wherein the sports shoe does not comprise a separate midsole component. 
     
     
         15 . The sports shoe of  claim 14  wherein the shoe baseplate comprises a drag modulus of elasticity of at least 1000 N/mm 2 . 
     
     
         16 . The sports shoe of  claim 14  wherein the shoe baseplate comprises a tensile strength of at least 40 N/mm 2 . 
     
     
         17 . The sports shoe of  claim 14  wherein the shoe baseplate comprises a Charpy impact strength of at least 40 KJ/mm 2 . 
     
     
         18 . A sports shoe comprising:
 (a) a shoe upper comprising a bottom portion;   (b) a shoe baseplate comprising a substantially planar body, the substantially planar body positioned within the shoe upper, wherein the substantially planar body covers substantially all of the bottom portion of the shoe upper, the shoe baseplate further comprising a plurality of studs unitarily formed with the substantially planar body, wherein the plurality of studs protrude through the bottom portion of the shoe upper;   (c) wherein at least some of the studs are frustum shaped, cone shaped, pyramidal shaped, hemispherical shaped, or rib shaped;   (d) wherein the shoe baseplate is fixed to the shoe upper;   (e) wherein the baseplate comprises a flexural modulus of elasticity of at least 1000 N/mm 2  and stabilizes the shoe upper.   
     
     
         19 . The sports shoe of  claim 18  wherein the sports shoe does not comprise a separate midsole component. 
     
     
         20 . The sports shoe of  claim 19  wherein the shoe baseplate comprises a polyamide, a polyether-block-amide (PEBA), or a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) material.
