Bra assembly to provide proper fit for multiple sized wearers

Abstract

The present disclosure provides a new bra assembly that allows for the fashionable fit of two or more bra sized wearers in a single bra sized garment. The present disclosure also provides for a bra assembly that enables wearers with different cup sizes, as well as many different underband sizes, to comfortable fit into the same bra sized garment.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A stand alone bra for two or more different sized wearers with different cup sizes and/or different band sizes comprising:
 an inner ply of fabric;   an outer ply of fabric connected to the inner ply of fabric to form an interior volume;   a first cup assembly formed by a first portion of the inner ply of fabric, a first portion of the outer ply of fabric and a first cup insert;   a second cup assembly formed by a second portion of the inner ply of fabric, a second portion of the outer ply of fabric and a second cup insert, the inner ply of fabric and the outer ply of fabric each being stretchable so that the first cup insert and the second cup insert are each movable in a horizontal direction, a vertical direction, and a diagonal direction upon stretch of the inner ply of fabric and the outer layer of fabric; and   a band connected to the inner ply of fabric and the outer ply of fabric,   wherein the first cup insert has a first top portion and a first bottom portion and the second cup insert has a second top portion and a second bottom portion,   wherein the first bottom portion and the second bottom portion are adjacent the band,   wherein the first cup insert is connected to the inner and/or outer ply of fabric only at the first bottom portion and the second cup insert is connected to the inner and/or outer ply of fabric only at the second bottom portion.   
     
     
         2 . The bra of  claim 1 , wherein the bra is a single bra and not incorporated into a garment. 
     
     
         3 . The bra of  claim 1 , wherein the inner ply of fabric has an inner top edge and an inner bottom edge and the outer ply of fabric has an outer top edge and an outer bottom edge, wherein the outer top edge is connected to the inner top edge and the outer bottom edge is connected to the inner bottom edge forming the interior volume, and wherein the outer top edge and the inner top edge are each connected to an exterior layer. 
     
     
         4 . The bra of  claim 3 , wherein the outer top edge and the inner top edge are each connected to the exterior layer so that the bra is incorporated into a garment. 
     
     
         5 . The bra of  claim 3 , wherein the outer top edge and the inner top edge are each connected to the exterior layer so that the bra is incorporated into a dress, a swim top, a one-piece swimsuit, a tank top, a t-shirt, an athletic-wear top, a long-sleeve shirt, a sleep top, lingerie, camisole, or any other garment that can incorporate a bra. 
     
     
         6 . The bra of  claim 3 , wherein the outer top edge and the inner top edge are each connected to the exterior layer so that the bra is incorporated into a dress. 
     
     
         7 . The bra of  claim 1 , wherein the band comprises a first end and a second end in a back portion that is opposite the first cup assembly and the second cup assembly and has an adjustable closure assembly that selectively connects the first end and the second end of the band together. 
     
     
         8 . The bra of  claim 7 , wherein the inner ply of fabric has an inner top edge and an inner bottom edge and the outer ply of fabric has an outer top edge and an outer bottom edge, wherein the outer top edge is connected to the inner top edge and the outer bottom edge is connected to the inner bottom edge forming the interior volume, wherein the outer top edge and the inner top edge are each connected to an exterior layer that covers the adjustable closure assembly. 
     
     
         9 . The bra of  claim 8 , the outer top edge and the inner top edge are each connected to the exterior layer so that the bra is incorporated into a garment, and wherein the exterior layer covers the adjustable closure assembly. 
     
     
         10 . The bra of  claim 1 , wherein the inner ply of fabric and the outer ply of fabric are molded at a location where the inner ply of fabric and the outer ply of fabric overlap opposite sides of the first cup insert, and wherein the inner ply of fabric and the outer ply of fabric are molded at a location where the inner ply of fabric and the outer ply of fabric overlap opposite sides of the second cup insert. 
     
     
         11 . The bra of  claim 3 , wherein the inner ply of fabric and the outer ply of fabric are molded at a location where the inner ply of fabric and the outer ply of fabric overlap opposite sides of the first cup insert, wherein the inner ply of fabric and the outer ply of fabric are molded at a location where the inner ply of fabric and the outer ply of fabric overlap opposite sides of the second cup insert, and wherein the exterior layer is molded at a location of the first cup insert and a location of the second cup insert. 
     
     
         12 . The bra of  claim 3 , wherein the band comprises a first end and a second end in a back portion that is opposite the first cup assembly and the second cup assembly and has an adjustable closure assembly that selectively connects the first end and the second end of the band together, wherein the exterior layer has a first edge connection portion connected to the first end of the band and a second edge connection portion connected to second end of the band, wherein the inner ply of fabric and the outer ply of fabric are molded at a location where the inner ply of fabric and the outer ply of fabric overlap opposite sides of the first cup insert, wherein the inner ply of fabric and the outer ply of fabric are molded at a location where the inner ply of fabric and the outer ply of fabric overlap opposite sides of the second cup insert, and wherein the exterior layer is molded at a location of the first cup insert and a location of the second cup insert. 
     
     
         13 . A stand alone bra for two or more different sized wearers with different cup sizes and/or different band sizes comprising:
 a first fabric portion having a first cup assembly, a first top edge, a first bottom edge and a first side edge, the first side edge being between the first top edge and the first bottom edge;   a second fabric portion having a second cup assembly, a second top edge, a second bottom edge and a second side edge, the second side edge being between the second top edge and the second bottom edge, the first top edge of the first fabric portion being connected to the second top edge of the second fabric portion, wherein between the first side edge and the second side edge a separation exists; and   an adjustable band having a first end and a second end, the first end and the second end having a closure to removably connect the first end to the second end, the closure has a first closure connector and a second closure connector that removably connect to one another, the closure having a first adjustment to connect the first closure connector to the second closure connector so that the band has a first size and a second adjustment to connect the first closure connector to the second closure connector so that the band has a second size that is different than the first size,   the first bottom edge and the second bottom edge being connected to the band to align the first side edge with the first end and the second side edge being offset from the second end so that the first cup assembly and the second cup assembly are movable relative to one another in response to movement of the closure between the first adjustment and the second adjustment,   the first cup assembly having a first cup insert and the second cup assembly having a second cup insert, the first cup insert having a first top portion and a first bottom portion and the second cup insert having a second top portion and a second bottom portion, the first bottom portion and the second bottom portion being adjacent the band,   wherein the first cup insert is fastened to the first fabric portion only at the first bottom portion, and the second cup insert is directly fastened to the second fabric portion only at the second bottom portion.   
     
     
         14 . The bra of  claim 13 , wherein the bra is a single bra and not incorporated into a garment. 
     
     
         15 . The bra of  claim 13 , wherein the first cup assembly and the second cup assembly are connected to an exterior layer. 
     
     
         16 . The bra of  claim 15 , wherein the first cup assembly and the second cup assembly are connected to the exterior layer so that the bra is incorporated into a garment. 
     
     
         17 . The bra of  claim 15 , wherein the first top edge and the second top edge are each connected to the exterior layer so that the bra is incorporated into a dress, a swim top, a one-piece swimsuit, a tank top, a t-shirt, an athletic-wear top, a long-sleeve shirt, a sleep top, lingerie, camisole, or any other garment that can incorporate a bra. 
     
     
         18 . The bra of  claim 15 , wherein the bra is incorporated into a dress. 
     
     
         19 . The bra assembly of  claim 13 , wherein the first cup assembly is molded at a location where the first fabric portion overlaps opposite sides of the first cup insert, and wherein the second cup assembly is molded at a location where the second fabric portion overlaps opposite sides of the second cup insert. 
     
     
         20 . The bra of  claim 15 , wherein the exterior layer covers the closure, wherein the first cup assembly is molded at a location where the first fabric portion overlaps opposite sides of the first cup insert, and wherein the second cup assembly is molded at a location where the second fabric portion overlaps opposite sides of the second cup insert, and wherein the exterior layer is molded at a location of the first cup insert and a location of the second cup insert. 
     
     
         21 . A stand alone bra for two or more wearers comprising:
 a first fabric portion having a first cup assembly, a first top edge, a first bottom edge and a first side edge, the first side edge being between the first top edge and the first bottom edge;   a second fabric portion having a second cup assembly, a second top edge, a second bottom edge and a second side edge, the second side edge being between the second top edge and the second bottom edge, the first top edge of the first fabric portion being connected to the second top edge of the second fabric portion, wherein between the first side edge and the second side edge a separation exists; and   an adjustable band having a first end and a second end, the first end and the second end having a closure to removably connect the first end to the second end, the closure has a first closure connector and a second closure connector that removably connect to one another, the closure having a first adjustment to connect the first closure connector to the second closure connector so that the band has a first size and a second adjustment to connect the first closure connector to the second closure connector so that the band has a second size that is different than the first size,   the first bottom edge and the second bottom edge being connected to the band to align the first side edge with the first end and the second side edge being offset from the second end so that the first cup assembly and the second cup assembly are movable relative to one another in response to movement of the closure between the first adjustment and the second adjustment,   the first cup assembly having a first cup insert and the second cup assembly having a second cup insert, the first cup insert having a first top portion and a first bottom portion and the second cup insert having a second top portion and a second bottom portion, the first bottom portion and the second bottom portion being adjacent the band,   wherein the first cup insert is directly fastened to the first fabric portion only at the first bottom portion, and the second cup insert is directly fastened to the second fabric portion only at the second bottom portion, and   wherein the first cup assembly and the second cup assembly are free of an exterior layer.   
     
     
         22 . The bra of  claim 21 , wherein the bra is a single bra and not incorporated into a garment.
