Abstract
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, obtaining a first identifier associated with a first communication device, applying the first identifier as an input to a hash function to generate a first output hash value, selecting a first communication resource from a plurality of communication resources based on the first output hash value, and mapping, based on the selecting, the first identifier to the first communication resource. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A device, comprising:
a processing system including a processor; and a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising: obtaining a first identifier associated with a first communication device; applying the first identifier as an input to a hash function to generate a first output hash value; selecting a first communication resource from a plurality of communication resources based on the first output hash value; and mapping, based on the selecting, the first identifier to the first communication resource.
2 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise:
applying the first output hash value as an input to a modulo operation to generate a first output of the modulo operation, wherein the selecting is based on the first output of the modulo operation.
3 . The device of claim 2 , wherein an order of the modulo operation is equal to a count of the plurality of communication resources.
4 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the hash function includes a MurmurHash3 hash function.
5 . The device of claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of communication resources includes a respective instance of a Unified Data Repository (UDR).
6 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise:
obtaining a second identifier associated with a second communication device, the second identifier being different from the first identifier; applying the second identifier as an input to the hash function to generate a second output hash value that is different from the first output hash value; selecting a second communication resource from the plurality of communication resources based on the second output hash value; and mapping, based on the selecting of the second communication resource, the second identifier to the second communication resource.
7 . The device of claim 6 , wherein the second communication resource is different from the first communication resource.
8 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the first identifier includes an international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI), a Subscription Permanent Identifier (SUPI), a Generic Public Subscription Identifier (GPSI), or any combination thereof.
9 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the first communication device includes one of: a smartphone, a laptop, a tablet, an Internet of Things device, or a connected vehicle.
10 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise:
maintaining a profile for the first communication device in accordance with the mapping.
11 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise:
facilitating a communication service for the first communication device in accordance with the mapping.
12 . The device of claim 1 , wherein a collective of a load represented by a plurality of communication devices is uniformly distributed amongst the plurality of communication resources within a threshold, the plurality of communication devices including the first communication device.
13 . The device of claim 12 , wherein the threshold is equal to 2%.
14 . A non-transitory machine-readable medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processing system including a processor, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:
applying a first identifier of a first user equipment as an input to a hash function to generate a first output hash value; and applying the first output hash value as an input to a modulo operation to map the first identifier to a first partition of a resource.
15 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 14 , wherein the operations further comprise:
applying a second identifier of a second user equipment as an input to the hash function to generate a second output hash value, wherein the second identifier is different from the first identifier and the second output hash value is different from the first output hash value; and applying the second output hash value as an input to the modulo operation to map the second identifier to a second partition of the resource.
16 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the second partition and the first partition are a same partition.
17 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the resource includes a plurality of frequency bands, wherein the first partition includes a first frequency band of the plurality of frequency bands, and wherein the second partition includes a second frequency band of the plurality of frequency bands.
18 . A method, comprising:
obtaining, by a processing system including a processor, a first request for a first communication service from a first communication device; determining, by the processing system and based on the obtaining of the first request, a first identifier associated with the first communication device, resulting in a first determination; identifying, by the processing system and based on the first determination and a use of a hash algorithm, a first resource from amongst a plurality of resources where a first profile for the first communication device is maintained, resulting in a first identification, the first profile including first data associated with the first communication service; and conveying, by the processing system and based on the identifying, the first data to the first communication device.
19 . The method of claim 18 , further comprising:
obtaining, by the processing system, a second request for a second communication service from a second communication device; determining, by the processing system and based on the obtaining of the second request, a second identifier associated with the second communication device, resulting in a second determination, the second identifier being different from the first identifier; identifying, by the processing system and based on the second determination and a use of the hash algorithm, a second resource from amongst the plurality of resources where a second profile for the second communication device is maintained, resulting in a second identification, the second profile including second data associated with the second communication service; and conveying, by the processing system and based on the second identification, the second data to the second communication device.
20 . The method of claim 19 , wherein the second communication service is different from the first communication service, wherein the second data is different from the first data, and wherein each of the first identification and the second identification is based on a use of a modulo operation.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
