Abstract

A projectile launcher may comprise a magazine configured to receive one or more cartridges. The magazine may comprise a body comprising a first end opposite a second end. The magazine may comprise a bore defining an opening through the body. The bore may be configured to receive a cartridge. The magazine may comprise an impact absorber positioned within the bore. In response to the bore receiving the cartridge, an axially forward surface of the cartridge may be configured to contact the impact absorber. The impact absorber may be configured to receive a force in response to a deployment of the cartridge.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A magazine for a projectile launcher comprising:
a body comprising a first end opposite a second end; a bore defining an opening through the body, wherein the bore is configured to receive a cartridge; and an impact absorber positioned within the bore, wherein in response to the bore receiving the cartridge an axially forward surface of the cartridge is configured to contact the impact absorber.

2 . The magazine of claim 1 , wherein in response to the bore receiving the cartridge a deployment end of the cartridge is configured to insert through the impact absorber.

3 . The magazine of claim 2 , wherein the impact absorber comprises an inner diameter, and wherein the inner diameter is greater than a diameter of the cartridge at the deployment end of the cartridge.

4 . The magazine of claim 2 , wherein the impact absorber comprises an inner diameter, wherein the cartridge comprises a contact end opposite the deployment end, and wherein the inner diameter is less than a diameter of the cartridge at the contact end of the cartridge.

5 . The magazine of claim 2 , wherein the impact absorber comprises an inner diameter, wherein the cartridge comprises a contact end opposite the deployment end, wherein the inner diameter is greater than a first diameter of the cartridge at the deployment end of the cartridge, and wherein the inner diameter is less than a second diameter of the cartridge at the contact end of the cartridge.

6 . The magazine of claim 1 , wherein in response to a deployment of the cartridge the impact absorber is configured to receive a recoil force from the cartridge.

7 . The magazine of claim 6 , wherein in response to receiving the recoil force the impact absorber is configured to compress.

8 . The magazine of claim 1 , further comprising a cartridge stop defined in the bore, wherein a forward surface of the impact absorber is positioned against the cartridge stop.

9 . The magazine of claim 1 , wherein the impact absorber comprises a spring.

10 . The magazine of claim 1 , wherein the impact absorber comprises a wave spring.

         11 . A projectile launcher comprising:
       a handle; and
a magazine configured to couple to the handle, the magazine comprising:
 a body comprising a first end opposite a second end;
a bore defining an opening through the body, wherein the bore is configured to receive a cartridge; and
an impact absorber positioned within the bore, wherein in response to the bore receiving the cartridge an axially forward surface of the cartridge is configured to contact the impact absorber.

12 . The projectile launcher of claim 11 , wherein in response to the bore receiving the cartridge a deployment end of the cartridge is configured to insert through the impact absorber.

13 . The projectile launcher of claim 12 , wherein the impact absorber comprises an inner diameter, and wherein the inner diameter is greater than a diameter of the cartridge at the deployment end of the cartridge.

14 . The projectile launcher of claim 12 , wherein the impact absorber comprises an inner diameter, wherein the cartridge comprises a contact end opposite the deployment end, and wherein the inner diameter is less than a diameter of the cartridge at the contact end of the cartridge.

15 . The projectile launcher of claim 12 , wherein the impact absorber comprises an inner diameter, wherein the cartridge comprises a contact end opposite the deployment end, wherein the inner diameter is greater than a first diameter of the cartridge at the deployment end of the cartridge, and wherein the inner diameter is less than a second diameter of the cartridge at the contact end of the cartridge.

16 . The projectile launcher of claim 11 , wherein in response to a deployment of the cartridge the impact absorber is configured to receive a recoil force from the cartridge.

17 . The projectile launcher of claim 16 , wherein in response to receiving the recoil force the impact absorber is configured to compress.

18 . The projectile launcher of claim 11 , wherein the magazine further comprises a cartridge stop defined in the bore, wherein a forward surface of the impact absorber is positioned against the cartridge stop.

19 . The projectile launcher of claim 11 , wherein the impact absorber comprises a spring.

20 . The projectile launcher of claim 11 , wherein in response to the magazine being coupled to the handle, the impact absorber is configured to compress against the cartridge.
