Outdoor Spigot Protection Device
Abstract
The present invention is an outdoor spigot protection device to prevent freezing and provide convenient access for operating the spigot. The device comprises a main cover body made of a hard plastic outer shell with an interior foam insulation layer, an open rear surface with a soft (i.e., compressible) foam ring for creating an airtight seal against an external or exterior wall, and a pull strap for securing the cover tightly to the spigot. A handle extends through the top of the cover and is operatively connected to the spigot valve via a fastening mechanism, enabling the valve to be turned without removing the cover. A hose aperture with weather-resistant materials accommodates a connected hose while preventing the entry of cold air and debris. The device can include an insulated wrap for protecting vertical pipes connected to free-standing spigots.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A spigot cover device comprising:
a main cover body having an arcuate front wall, a pair of side walls, a top wall, and a bottom wall; a handle; and an outdoor spigot; wherein said main body having an open rear surface and a compressible foam ring disposed on a rear outside edge for creating a seal against an exterior wall; wherein said outdoor spigot is covered inside said main cover body; wherein said main cover body having a material of plastic; wherein said handle extends through said top wall of said main cover body; wherein said handle operatively connected to a valve of said outdoor spigot; wherein said handle covered by a protecting member over a portion of an elongated length of said handle; and further wherein said handle having a horizontal arm disposed at a top end of said elongated length.
2 . The spigot cover device of claim 1 , wherein rotation of said horizontal arm corresponds to rotation of said valve for actuation of said outdoor spigot.
3 . The spigot cover device of claim 2 further comprising a hose aperture disposed through said front wall for a hose connected to said outdoor spigot to pass therethrough.
4 . The spigot cover device of claim 3 , wherein said front wall having a hose-supporting member extending outward from said front wall to cover said hose aperture.
5 . The spigot cover device of claim 4 further comprising a pull strap disposed in a central area of said front wall, wherein said pull strap extending from said front wall and looping around said outdoor spigot.
6 . The spigot cover device of claim 5 , wherein said pull strap adapted to be pulled tight for biasing said main cover body and said compressible foam ring against the exterior wall.
7 . The spigot cover device of claim 6 , wherein said main cover body having a coating of photoluminescence material.
8 . A spigot cover device comprising:
a main cover body having an arcuate front wall, a pair of side walls, a top wall, and a bottom wall; a handle; and an outdoor spigot; wherein said main cover body having a plastic outer shell and an interior foam insulation layer; wherein said main body having an open rear surface and a compressible foam ring disposed on a rear outside edge for creating a seal against an exterior wall; wherein said outdoor spigot is covered inside said main cover body; wherein said handle extends through said top wall of said main cover body; wherein said handle operatively connected to a valve of said outdoor spigot; wherein said handle having a horizontal arm disposed at a top end of said elongated length; and further wherein rotation of said horizontal arm corresponds to rotation of said valve for actuation of said outdoor spigot.
9 . The spigot cover device of claim 8 further comprising a hose aperture disposed through said front wall for a hose connected to said outdoor spigot to pass therethrough.
10 . The spigot cover device of claim 9 , wherein said front wall having a hose-supporting member extending outward from said front wall to cover said hose aperture.
11 . The spigot cover device of claim 10 further comprising a pull strap disposed in a central area of said front wall, wherein said pull strap extending from said front wall and looping around said outdoor spigot.
12 . The spigot cover device of claim 11 , wherein said pull strap adapted to be pulled tight for biasing said main cover body and said compressible foam ring against the exterior wall.
13 . The spigot cover device of claim 12 , wherein said main cover body having a coating of photoluminescence material.
14 . The spigot cover device of claim 8 , wherein said main cover body having a rigid material selected from the group consisting of an aluminum and a plastic; and further wherein said main cover body having a hinge along a top edge proximal to the exterior wall for selectively pivoting said main body cover around said outdoor spigot.
15 . A spigot cover device comprising:
a main cover body having an arcuate front wall, a pair of side walls, a top wall, a bottom wall, and a rear wall; a handle; a pull strap; and an outdoor spigot; wherein said main cover body having a plastic outer shell and an interior foam insulation layer; wherein said outdoor spigot is covered inside said main cover body; wherein said handle extends through said top wall of said main cover body; wherein said handle operatively connected to a valve of said outdoor spigot; wherein said handle having a horizontal arm disposed at a top end of said elongated length; wherein rotation of said horizontal arm corresponds to rotation of said valve for actuation of said outdoor spigot; wherein said pull strap disposed in a central area of said front wall; and further wherein said pull strap extending from said front wall and looping around said outdoor spigot.
16 . The spigot cover device of claim 15 , wherein said main cover body having an extendable said front wall and a selectively openable said bottom wall for insulated housing of a retractable coiled hose therein.
17 . The spigot cover device of claim 15 , wherein said front wall having a hose-supporting member extending outward from said front wall to cover said hose aperture.
18 . The spigot cover device of claim 17 , wherein said pull strap adapted to be pulled tight for biasing said main cover body against said outdoor spigot.
19 . The spigot cover device of claim 18 , wherein said main cover body having a rigid material selected from the group consisting of an aluminum and a plastic; and further wherein said main cover body having a hinge along a top edge proximal to the exterior wall for selectively pivoting said main body cover around said outdoor spigot.
20 . The spigot cover device of claim 19 , wherein said handle covered by a protecting member over a portion of an elongated length of said handle.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
