Abstract

A modular hat with a removable bill and customizable components addresses issues of individual expressiveness, portability, and cost-effective personalization in headwear. The hat features a skull portion with interior magnets for attaching interchangeable bills and magnetic badges. The design allows for easy deconstruction, flattening, and compact storage. Various attachment mechanisms, including magnets, hook and loop fasteners, and protrusion-receptacle systems, enable versatile customization. This modular approach combines mass production efficiency with affordable personalization options, applicable to various hat styles beyond the initial flat brim design.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A modular hat comprising:
a skull portion with integrated mesh magnetic material; a removable bill attachable via the mesh magnetic material; wherein the skull portion is flexible and can be flattened when the removable bill is detached for compact storage; and wherein the mesh magnetic material enables magnetic badge attachment at multiple locations on the skull portion.

2 . The modular hat of claim 1 , wherein the at least one attachment mechanism comprises interior magnets in the skull portion.

3 . The modular hat of claim 2 , further comprising one or more magnetic badges attachable to an exterior of the skull portion via the interior magnets.

4 . The modular hat of claim 1 , wherein the at least one attachment mechanism comprises hook and loop fasteners.

5 . The modular hat of claim 1 , wherein the at least one attachment mechanism comprises a protrusion and protrusion receptacle system.

6 . The modular hat of claim 1 , wherein the skull portion is flexible and can be flattened when the removable bill is detached.

7 . The modular hat of claim 1 , wherein the removable bill is interchangeable with bills of different colors, sizes, shapes, or curvatures.

8 . A method of customizing the modular hat of claim 1 , comprising:
providing a skull portion with at least one attachment mechanism; selecting a removable bill from a plurality of bills with different characteristics; and attaching the selected removable bill to the skull portion using the at least one attachment mechanism.

9 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising:
detaching the removable bill from the skull portion; flattening the skull portion; and storing the flattened skull portion and detached bill in a compact configuration.

         10 . A modular hat system comprising:
a skull portion with interior magnets; a plurality of interchangeable removable bills; and a plurality of magnetic badges attachable to an exterior of the skull portion.

11 . The modular hat system of claim 10 , wherein the plurality of interchangeable removable bills differ in at least one of color, size, shape, or curvature.

         12 . A deconstructable hat comprising:
a flexible skull portion; a detachable bill; and an attachment mechanism for securing the detachable bill to the flexible skull portion, wherein the flexible skull portion can be flattened when the detachable bill is removed for compact storage.

13 . The deconstructable hat of claim 12 , wherein the flattened flexible skull portion and the detached bill can be stored side by side in a compact configuration.

14 . The modular hat of claim 1 , wherein the interior magnets comprise a mesh magnetic material woven into the skull portion, providing magnetic attachment capability at multiple locations.

15 . The modular hat of claim 1 , wherein the mesh magnetic material is substantially hidden from exterior view, maintaining the conventional appearance of the hat.
