Abstract

A cutting apparatus for forming an uneven edge on a false eyelash includes an upper jaw and a lower jaw which are movably coupled together. The upper and lower jaws are movable toward each other in a cutting action to trim a false eyelash. The upper jaw comprises a plurality of cutting teeth which are distributed along a bottom edge of the upper jaw between a pair of lateral edges of the upper jaw. The cutting teeth are spaced apart from each other.

I claim: 
     
         1 . A cutting apparatus for use with false eyelashes, the cutting apparatus comprising:
 an upper jaw and a lower jaw which are movably coupled together, the upper and lower jaws being movable toward each other in a cutting action, the upper jaw comprising a plurality of cutting teeth, the cutting teeth being distributed along a bottom edge of the upper jaw between a pair of lateral edges of the upper jaw, the cutting teeth being spaced apart from each other.   
     
     
         2 . The cutting apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the upper jaw has a front side and a back side, the cutting teeth being distributed generally along an arcuate path with a concave side which faces forwardly with respect to the upper jaw. 
     
     
         3 . The cutting apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the lower jaw has a top surface which moves toward the cutting teeth of the upper jaw when the upper and lower jaws are moved in the cutting action. 
     
     
         4 . The cutting apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the lower jaw comprises a resilient material. 
     
     
         5 . The cutting apparatus of  claim 4 , wherein the resilient material comprises rubber. 
     
     
         6 . The cutting apparatus of  claim 1 , further comprising a first handle coupled to the upper jaw and a second handle coupled to the lower jaw, the first and second handles being pivotably coupled together, a distal end of the first handle with respect to the upper jaw being movable toward a distal end of the second handle with respect to the lower jaw to move the upper and lower jaws in the cutting action. 
     
     
         7 . The cutting apparatus of  claim 6 , wherein the first handle comprises a loop at the distal end of the first handle which is sized to accommodate one or more fingers of a hand of a user, the second handle comprising a loop at the distal end of the second handle which is sized to accommodate one or more fingers of the hand. 
     
     
         8 . The cutting apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the first handle has a jaw section and a grip section, the jaw section being coupled to and extending between the back side of the upper jaw and the grip section, the grip section extending downwardly from the jaw section with respect to the upper jaw, the second handle having a jaw portion and a grip portion, the jaw portion being coupled to and extending between a back surface of the lower jaw and the grip portion, the grip portion extending downwardly from the jaw portion with respect to the lower jaw, the grip section of the first handle being pivotably coupled to the grip portion of the second handle. 
     
     
         9 . A cutting apparatus for use with false eyelashes, the cutting apparatus comprising:
 an upper jaw and a lower jaw which are movably coupled together, the upper and lower jaws being movable toward each other in a cutting action, the upper jaw comprising a plurality of cutting teeth, the cutting teeth being distributed along a bottom edge of the upper jaw between a pair of lateral edges of the upper jaw, the cutting teeth being spaced apart from each other, the upper jaw having a front side and a back side, the cutting teeth being distributed generally along an arcuate path with a concave side which faces forwardly with respect to the upper jaw, the lower jaw having a top surface which moves toward the cutting teeth of the upper jaw when the upper and lower jaws are moved in the cutting action, the lower jaw comprising a resilient material, the resilient material comprising rubber; and   a first handle coupled to the upper jaw and a second handle coupled to the lower jaw, the first and second handles being pivotably coupled together, a distal end of the first handle with respect to the upper jaw being movable toward a distal end of the second handle with respect to the lower jaw to move the upper and lower jaws in the cutting action, the first handle comprising a loop at the distal end of the first handle which is sized to accommodate one or more fingers of a hand of a user, the second handle comprising a loop at the distal end of the second handle which is sized to accommodate one or more fingers of the hand, the first handle having a jaw section and a grip section, the jaw section being coupled to and extending between the back side of the upper jaw and the grip section, the grip section extending downwardly from the jaw section with respect to the upper jaw, the second handle having a jaw portion and a grip portion, the jaw portion being coupled to and extending between a back surface of the lower jaw and the grip portion, the grip portion extending downwardly from the jaw portion with respect to the lower jaw, the grip section of the first handle being pivotably coupled to the grip portion of the second handle.   
     
     
         10 . A method of trimming a false eyelash comprising:
 positioning a plurality of fibers of the false eyelash between an upper jaw and a lower jaw of a cutting apparatus; and   closing the upper and lower jaws of the cutting apparatus in a cutting action against a subset of fibers of the plurality of fibers.   
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 10 , wherein:
 the false eyelash comprises a base strip which is elongated, each fiber of the plurality of fibers being coupled to and distributed longitudinally along the base strip, each fiber extending away from the base strip transversely to a longitudinal axis of the base strip; and   the step of closing the upper and lower jaws of the cutting apparatus severs a distal portion of each fiber of the subset of fibers with respect to the base strip.   
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 10 , whereby, in the step of closing the upper and lower jaws of the cutting apparatus, the fibers of the subset of fibers are cut simultaneously. 
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 10 , wherein the upper jaw comprises a plurality of cutting teeth, the cutting teeth being distributed along a bottom edge of the upper jaw between a pair of lateral edges of the upper jaw, the cutting teeth being spaced apart from each other. 
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 13 , wherein:
 the false eyelash comprises a base strip which is elongated, each fiber of the plurality of fibers being coupled to and distributed longitudinally along the base strip, each fiber extending away from the base strip transversely to a longitudinal axis of the base strip;   the cutting teeth are distributed generally along an arcuate path; and   the step of positioning the plurality of fibers of the false eyelash between the upper and lower jaws of the cutting apparatus comprises the plurality of fibers being positioned such that a concave side of the arcuate path faces the base strip.
