Abstract
A pontoon boat comprising pontoons supporting a support structure A mounting assembly is connected to the pontoons via fasteners extending through the mounting assembly and into the support structure. Additional structure is connected to the mounting assembly such that the mounting assembly connects the additional structure to the pontoons and the support structure. Using openings for the fasteners in the support structure results in no damage to an upper finished deck surface to connect the mounting assembly to the pontoon boat, such that the upper finished deck surface of the pontoon boat is not destroyed or damaged when connecting the mounting assembly to the pontoon boat. The mounting assembly can also use created holes to connect the mounting assembly to the pontoon boat.

1 . A pontoon boat comprising:
a plurality of pontoons supporting a support structure, at least one of the pontoons including an eye extending from an end of the at least one of the pontoons, the eye comprising a flange and a hole through the flange; a mounting assembly connected to the at least one of the pontoons via first fasteners extending through the mounting assembly and into the support structure and a second fastener that extends through the hole of the eye; and an additional structure connected to the mounting assembly such that the mounting assembly connects the additional structure to the pontoons and the support structure; wherein using openings for the first fasteners in the support structure results in no damage to an upper finished deck surface to connect the mounting assembly to the pontoon boat, such that the upper finished deck surface of the pontoon boat is not destroyed or damaged when connecting the mounting assembly to the pontoon boat.
2 . The pontoon boat of claim 1 , wherein:
the eye is located at a front of the at least one of the pontoons and extends forwardly from a front of the at least one of the pontoons.
3 . The pontoon boat of claim 1 , wherein:
the eye is located at a rear of the at least one of the pontoons and extends rearwardly from a rear of the at least one of the pontoons.
4 . The pontoon boat of claim 1 , wherein:
the additional structure is a pole anchor.
5 . The pontoon boat of claim 1 , wherein:
the additional structure is a trolling motor.
6 . The pontoon boat of claim 1 , wherein:
the mounting assembly comprises a vertical plate having a vertical aperture therethrough for accepting the second fastener therein and at least one horizontal plate connected to the vertical plate, the at least one horizontal plate having at least one horizontal aperture for accepting the first fastener therethrough.
7 . The pontoon boat of claim 6 , wherein:
the mounting assembly further includes a vertical support plate.
8 . The pontoon boat of claim 7 , wherein:
the additional structure is a pole anchor having a support plate connected to the vertical support plate of the mounting assembly.
9 . The pontoon boat of claim 1 , wherein:
the mounting assembly comprises a connection portion straddling the eye for accepting the second fastener therethrough and having at least one horizontal plate with a plurality of horizontal apertures for accepting the first fasteners therethrough, the mounting assembly further includes a mounting portion for connection to the additional structure.
10 . An improvement to a pontoon boat comprising a plurality of pontoons supporting a support structure and having flooring with an upper finished deck surface, at least one of the pontoons including an eye extending from an end of the at least one of the pontoons, the eye comprising a flange and a hole through the flange, the improvement comprising:
a mounting assembly connected to the at least one of the pontoons via first fasteners extending through the mounting assembly and into the support structure and a second fastener that extends through the hole of the eye; and an additional structure connected to the mounting assembly such that the mounting assembly connects the additional structure to the pontoons and the support structure; wherein using openings for the first fasteners in the support structure results in no damage to an upper finished deck surface to connect the mounting assembly to the pontoon boat, such that the upper finished deck surface of the pontoon boat is not destroyed or damaged when connecting the mounting assembly to the pontoon boat.
11 . The improvement of claim 10 , wherein:
the eye is located at a front of the at least one of the pontoons and extends forwardly from a front of the at least one of the pontoons.
12 . The improvement of claim 10 , wherein:
the eye is located at a rear of the at least one of the pontoons and extends rearwardly from a rear of the at least one of the pontoons.
13 . The improvement of claim 10 , wherein:
the additional structure is a pole anchor.
14 . The improvement of claim 10 , wherein:
the additional structure is a trolling motor.
15 . The improvement of claim 10 wherein:
the mounting assembly comprises a vertical plate having a vertical aperture therethrough for accepting the second fastener therein and at least one horizontal plate connected to the vertical plate, the at least one horizontal plate having at least one horizontal aperture for accepting the first fastener therethrough.
16 . The improvement of claim 15 , wherein:
the mounting assembly further includes a vertical support plate.
17 . The improvement of claim 16 , wherein:
the additional structure is a pole anchor having a support plate connected to the vertical support plate of the mounting assembly.
18 . The improvement of claim 10 , wherein:
the mounting assembly comprises a connection portion straddling the eye for accepting the second fastener therethrough and having at least one horizontal plate with a plurality of horizontal apertures for accepting the first fasteners therethrough, the mounting assembly further includes a mounting portion for connection to the additional structure.

A method of connecting additional structure to a pontoon boat, the pontoon boat comprising a plurality of pontoons supporting a support structure, at least one of the pontoons including an eye extending from an end of the at least one of the pontoons, the eye comprising a flange and a hole through the flange, first fasteners connecting the pontoons to the support structure, the method comprising:
removing the first fasteners from openings in the support structure; connecting the mounting assembly to the at least one of the pontoons via extending the first fasteners extending through the mounting assembly and into the openings in the support structure and by extending a second fastener through the hole of the eye; and connecting an additional structure to the mounting assembly such that the mounting assembly connects the additional structure to the pontoons and the support structure; wherein using openings for the first fasteners in the support structure results in no additional openings needed to be formed in the support structure to connect the mounting assembly to the pontoon boat, such that the pontoon boat is not destroyed or damaged when connecting the mounting assembly to the pontoon boat.
20 . The method of claim 19 , wherein:
the eye is located at a front of the at least one of the pontoons and extends forwardly from a front of the at least one of the pontoons.
21 . The method of claim 19 , wherein:
the eye is located at a rear of the at least one of the pontoons and extends rearwardly from a rear of the at least one of the pontoons.
22 . The method of claim 19 , wherein:
the additional structure is a pole anchor.
23 . The method of claim 19 , wherein:
the additional structure is a trolling motor.
24 . The method of claim 19 wherein:
the mounting assembly comprises a vertical plate having a vertical aperture therethrough for accepting the second fastener therein and at least one horizontal plate connected to the vertical plate, the at least one horizontal plate having at least one horizontal aperture for accepting the first fastener therethrough.
25 . The method of claim 24 , wherein:
the mounting assembly further includes a vertical support plate.
26 . The method of claim 25 , wherein:
the additional structure is a pole anchor having a support plate connected to the vertical support plate of the mounting assembly.
27 . The method of claim 19 , wherein:
the mounting assembly comprises a connection portion straddling the eye for accepting the second fastener therethrough and having at least one horizontal plate with a plurality of horizontal apertures for accepting the first fasteners therethrough, the mounting assembly further includes a mounting portion for connection to the additional structure.
28 . A pontoon boat comprising:
a plurality of pontoons supporting a support structure; flooring with an upper finished deck surface located above the support structure; a mounting assembly connected to at least one of the pontoons via fasteners extending through the mounting assembly and into the support structure; and an additional structure connected to the mounting assembly such that the mounting assembly connects the additional structure to the pontoons and the support structure; wherein using openings for the fasteners in the support structure results in no damage to the upper finished deck surface to connect the mounting assembly to the pontoon boat, such that the upper finished deck surface of the pontoon boat is not destroyed or damaged when connecting the mounting assembly to the pontoon boat.
29 . A pontoon boat comprising:
a plurality of pontoons supporting a support structure; flooring with an upper finished deck surface located above the support structure; a mounting assembly connected to at least one of the pontoons via fasteners extending through the mounting assembly and into the support structure, the mounting assembly having a horizontal plate and a vertical plate; and a power pole anchor connected to the vertical plate of the mounting assembly such that the mounting assembly connects the power pole anchor to the pontoons and the support structure; wherein the horizontal plate of the mounting assembly is connected to a bottom horizontal surface of the support structure and the vertical plate of the mounting assembly is substantially flush with a periphery of the support structure.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
