Abstract
An adjustably weightable bat assembly for practicing and improving a swing of a hitter includes a rod that is substantially baseball bat shaped and substantially transparent. Each of a plurality of billets is selectively couplable to a first end of the rod and has a respective mass so that the plurality of billets comprises billets that have a variety of masses. A respective billet is selectively couplable to the rod to provide an associated weighting to the rod. A ball is positioned in a channel that is axially positioned in the rod. The ball is positioned to travel through the channel toward the first end of the rod as the rod is swung by a user. The ball is configured to attract attention of the user, drawing the eyes of the user to the rod to train the user to follow a pitched baseball to a baseball bat.

1 . An adjustably weightable bat assembly comprising:
a rod, the rod being substantially baseball bat shaped, the rod being substantially transparent; a plurality of billets selectively couplable to a first end of the rod, each billet having a respective mass such that the plurality of billets comprises billets having a variety of masses such that a respective billet is selectively couplable to the rod for providing an associated weighting to the rod; a channel axially positioned in the rod; and a ball positioned in the channel such that the ball is positioned for traveling through the channel toward the first end of the rod as the rod is swung by a user wherein the ball is configured for attracting attention of the user.
2 . The assembly of claim 1 , further including the rod comprising a handle section, a tapered section, and a barrel section, the handle section being circumferentially smaller than the barrel section, the tapered section being positioned between the handle section and the barrel section.
3 . The assembly of claim 2 , further including a grip coupled to the handle section wherein the grip is configured for enhancing a grasp of hands upon the handle section.
4 . The assembly of claim 2 , further including the channel extending from the first end of the rod to proximate to a midpoint of the tapered section.
5 . The assembly of claim 1 , further including the rod comprising thermoplastic.
6 . The assembly of claim 5 , further including the rod comprising poly(methyl methacrylate).
7 . The assembly of claim 1 , further including the billets being rubberized.
8 . The assembly of claim 1 , further including the billets comprising rubber.
9 . The assembly of claim 1 , further including each billet having a first terminus, the first terminus being rounded such that the first terminus resembles a tip of a baseball bat.
10 . The assembly of claim 1 , further comprising:
the first end of the rod being externally threaded; and a plurality of recesses, each recess extending into a second terminus of a respective billet, the recess being threaded such that the recess is positioned for threadedly inserting the first end of the rod for coupling the respective billet to the rod.
11 . The assembly of claim 1 , further including the ball comprising metal.
12 . The assembly of claim 11 , further including the ball comprising steel.
13 . The assembly of claim 1 , further including the ball mimicking the appearance of a baseball.
14 . The assembly of claim 1 , further comprising:
a cavity positioned in the rod proximate to the first end; and a plate coupled to the rod such that the plate separates the channel from the cavity wherein the ball is positioned for impacting the plate as the rod is swung by the user such that a sound is generated.
15 . The assembly of claim 14 , further including the plate comprising wood such that the sound generated by the ball impacting the plate mimics the sound of a baseball bat striking a baseball.
16 . The assembly of claim 14 , further comprising:
a battery positioned in the cavity; a touch switch coupled to the plate, the touch switch being operationally coupled to the battery; and a bulb coupled to the rod and positioned in the cavity, the bulb being operationally coupled to the battery wherein the ball is positioned for actuating the touch switch upon the ball impacting the plate such that the bulb is transiently coupled to the battery wherein the bulb is configured for illuminating for attracting the attention of the user.
17 . The assembly of claim 16 , further including the bulb comprising a light emitting diode.
18 . An adjustably weightable bat assembly comprising:
a rod, the rod being substantially baseball bat shaped, the rod being substantially transparent, the rod having a first end, the first end being externally threaded, the rod comprising a handle section, a tapered section, and a barrel section, the handle section being circumferentially smaller than the barrel section, the tapered section being positioned between the handle section and the barrel section, the rod comprising thermoplastic, the rod comprising poly(methyl methacrylate); a grip coupled to the handle section wherein the grip is configured for enhancing a grasp of hands upon the handle section; a plurality of billets selectively couplable to the first end of the rod, each billet having a respective mass such that the plurality of billets comprises billets having a variety of masses such that a respective billet is selectively couplable to the rod for providing an associated weighting to the rod, the billets being rubberized, the billets comprising rubber, each billet having a first terminus, the first terminus being rounded such that the first terminus resembles a tip of a baseball bat; a plurality of recesses, each recess extending into a second terminus of a respective billet, the recess being threaded such that the recess is positioned for threadedly inserting the first end of the rod for coupling the respective billet to the rod; a channel axially positioned in the rod, the channel extending from the first end of the rod to proximate to a midpoint of the tapered section; a ball positioned in the channel such that the ball is positioned for traveling through the channel toward the first end of the rod as the rod is swung by a user wherein the ball is configured for attracting attention of the user, the ball comprising metal, the ball comprising steel, the ball mimicking the appearance of a baseball; a cavity positioned in the rod proximate to the first end; a plate coupled to the rod such that the plate separates the channel from the cavity wherein the ball is positioned for impacting the plate as the rod is swung by the user such that a sound is generated, the plate comprising wood such that the sound generated by the ball impacting the plate mimics the sound of a baseball bat striking a baseball; a battery positioned in the cavity; a touch switch coupled to the plate, the touch switch being operationally coupled to the battery; and a bulb coupled to the rod and positioned in the cavity, the bulb being operationally coupled to the battery wherein the ball is positioned for actuating the touch switch upon the ball impacting the plate such that the bulb is transiently coupled to the battery wherein the bulb is configured for illuminating for attracting the attention of the user, the bulb comprising a light emitting diode.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
