Abstract

An assembly is provided. The assembly may include a face mask to conform to a face of a user, the face mask including an adapter including one or more venting pathways to alter a direction of one or more exhaled gasses traveling in an initial direction. An assembly may include a face shield, the face shield selectively engageable with the face mask. An assembly may include a connector including a magnetic engagement structure to couple the face mask to the face shield in a predetermined orientation.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A system comprising:
 a face mask to conform to a face of a user, the face mask including one or more venting pathways to alter a direction of one or more exhaled gasses traveling in an initial direction;   a face shield, the face shield selectively engageable with the face mask; and   a connector including a magnetic engagement structure to couple the face mask to the face shield in a predetermined orientation.   
     
     
         2 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the face mask further includes an adapter, the adapter including a plurality of venting pathways, each of the plurality of venting pathways including one or more of a venting slot or channel positioned to direct the one or more exhaled gasses in a direction substantially orthogonal to the initial direction. 
     
     
         3 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the face mask further includes one or more attachment elements configured to selectively engage a surgical mask. 
     
     
         4 . The system of  claim 3 , wherein each of the one or more attachment elements include one or more hooks, the one or more hooks configured to engage with one or more of a main body of the surgical mask or a securing element of the surgical mask, thereby retaining the face mask in a relative position to the surgical mask when in an engaged configuration. 
     
     
         5 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the one or more venting pathways include one or more horizontal ribs positioned on an interior surface of the face mask. 
     
     
         6 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the connector further includes a plurality of arms, each of the plurality of arms being flexibly constructed for adaptable engagement with the face shield. 
     
     
         7 . The system of  claim 6 , wherein one or more of the face shield or the connector further includes a friction fit connector. 
     
     
         8 . A system comprising:
 a base;   an adapter to connect to the base, the adapter including one or more venting pathways to direct a flow of air;   a coupler to interface with the adapter, the coupler including one or more venting slots to align with the one or more venting pathways; and   a cap to attach to one or more of the adapter or the coupler, the cap including one or more openings and one or more conduits to alter a direction of the air traveling in an initial direction into the adapter.   
     
     
         9 . The system of  claim 8 , wherein the adapter further includes a flange extending circumferentially around the adapter, the flange configured to abut an inner surface of the base. 
     
     
         10 . The system of  claim 8 , wherein the cap further includes one or more keys on an inner portion of the cap, and wherein the adapter further includes one or more keyways, wherein the one or more keys are configured to be inserted into the one or more keyways. 
     
     
         11 . The system of  claim 8 , wherein the one or more venting pathways include one or more vertical slots to allow the air into and out of the adapter during inhalation and exhalation, respectively. 
     
     
         12 . The system of  claim 11 , wherein the one or more venting slots are aligned with the one or more vertical slots. 
     
     
         13 . The system of  claim 8 , wherein the cap further includes a central hub and a conical skirt extending radially outward from the central hub, wherein the conical skirt is configured to divert the air. 
     
     
         14 . The system of  claim 13 , wherein the one or more conduits are in fluid communication with the central hub. 
     
     
         15 . The system of  claim 8 , wherein the base further includes attachment elements configured to hook onto a surgical mask, wherein each of the attachment elements include one or more hooks, the one or more hooks configured to engage with one or more of a main body of the surgical mask or a securing element of the surgical mask, thereby retaining the base in a relative position to the surgical mask when in an engaged configuration. 
     
     
         16 . A system comprising:
 a shield to deflect airborne particulates; and   a connector to attach the shield to a face mask, the connector including:
 one or more arms including one or more end connectors to retain one or more edges or corners of the shield, and 
 one or more engagement elements including one or more of one or more magnetic elements or one or more friction fit connectors. 
   
     
     
         17 . The system of  claim 16 , wherein each of the one or more arms is flexibly constructed. 
     
     
         18 . The system of  claim 16 , wherein the one or more engagement elements include the one or more magnetic elements, and wherein the one or more magnetic elements are aligned with corresponding magnetic elements in the face mask. 
     
     
         19 . The system of  claim 16 , wherein the one or more end connectors include one or more C-shaped clips to engage the one or more edges or corners with tension. 
     
     
         20 . The system of  claim 16 , wherein the one or more engagement elements include the one or more friction fit connectors, and wherein the one or more friction fit connectors include one or more interlocking ridges or grooves to connect to the face mask.
