Range appliance accessory attachment assembly

Abstract

A range appliance backsplash assembly for attachment to a mount wall includes a first wall extending substantially along the longitudinal direction and the vertical direction. The first wall is configured to extend substantially adjacent to the mount wall. The first wall includes a first side wall. A second wall includes a second side wall. The first side wall and the second side wall together include an attachment interface selectively coupling together the first wall and the second wall. The attachment interface includes a mating tab selectively extendable into a slot formed at a receiving tab. The mating tab is formed at one of the first side wall or the second side wall. The receiving tab is formed at the other of the first side wall or the second side wall.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A range appliance backsplash assembly for attachment to a mount wall extending substantially along a reference longitudinal direction and a reference vertical direction, and wherein a reference depth direction extends orthogonal to the longitudinal direction and the vertical direction, the backsplash assembly comprising: 
 a first wall extending substantially along the longitudinal direction and the vertical direction, the first wall configured to extend substantially adjacent to the mount wall, wherein the first wall comprising a first side wall;   a second wall comprising a second side wall, wherein the first side wall and the second side wall together comprise an attachment interface selectively coupling together the first wall and the second wall, the attachment interface comprising a mating tab selectively extendable into a slot formed at a receiving tab, wherein the mating tab is formed at one of the first side wall or the second side wall, and wherein the receiving tab is formed at the other of the first side wall or the second side wall.   
     
     
         2 . The range appliance backsplash assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the mating tab comprises an extension portion and a mating portion, the extension portion offsetting the mating portion from the side wall from which the mating tab extends, the mating portion configured to extend into the slot formed at the receiving tab.  
     
     
         3 . The range appliance backsplash assembly of  claim 2 , wherein the extension portion positions the mating portion at an oblique angle relative to the side wall. 
     
     
         4 . The range appliance backsplash assembly of  claim 3 , wherein the extension portion comprises a hook positioning the mating portion at the oblique angle relative to the side wall. 
     
     
         5 . The range appliance backsplash assembly of  claim 4 , wherein the mating portion extends at an oblique angle relative to the side wall from which the mating tab extends, and wherein the receiving portion extends at an oblique angle relative to the side wall from which the receiving tab extends. 
     
     
         6 . The range appliance backsplash assembly of  claim 2 , wherein the mating tab comprises a hook. 
     
     
         7 . The range appliance backsplash assembly of  claim 6 , wherein the receiving tab comprises a hook interconnectable with the mating tab. 
     
     
         8 . The range appliance backsplash assembly of  claim 2 , wherein the mating portion extends at an acute angle relative to the receiving tab to touch opposing walls at the slot. 
     
     
         9 . The range appliance backsplash assembly of  claim 2 , wherein the mating tab comprises a spring configured to rotate the mating portion onto the receiving tab. 
     
     
         10 . The range appliance backsplash assembly of  claim 2 , wherein the receiving tab comprises a spring configured biased away from the side wall from which the receiving tab extends. 
     
     
         11 . The range appliance backsplash assembly of  claim 2 , wherein the mating tab and the receiving tab are positioned at a perimeter of side walls.  
     
     
         12 . The range appliance backsplash assembly of  claim 11 , wherein the mating tab and the receiving tab are formed from respective portions of the perimeter of the side wall curled toward itself. 
     
     
         13 . The range appliance backsplash assembly of  claim 1 , wherein a volume is formed between first wall and the second wall. 
     
     
         14 . The range appliance backsplash assembly of  claim 13 , wherein the first side wall and the second side wall extend substantially co-directional to one another along the reference depth direction. 
     
     
         15 . The range appliance backsplash assembly of  claim 13 , wherein the mating tab and the receiving tab extend into the volume between the first wall and the second wall. 
     
     
         16 . The range appliance backsplash assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the mating tab is formed at the first side wall, and wherein the receiving tab is formed at the second side wall. 
     
     
         17 . The range appliance backsplash assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the mating tab is formed at the second side wall, and wherein the receiving tab is formed at the first side wall. 
     
     
         18 . The range appliance backsplash assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the slot comprises a L-shaped or serpentine geometry. 
     
     
         19 . The range appliance backsplash assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the slot comprises a closed end. 
     
     
         20 . The range appliance backsplash assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the first wall comprises a fastener opening configured to receive a fastener through the first wall to the mount wall.
