Abstract
A laundry treating appliance includes a ventilation system for reducing buildup of odor. The ventilation system can be configured to periodically evacuate air from the treating chamber to refresh the air within the treating chamber. Fresh air can be pumped from an entrance in the bottom of the cabinet and can exit an opening in the washing machine.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 20 . (canceled)
21 . A washing machine appliance, comprising:
a cabinet; a tub positioned within the cabinet and defining an interior; a basket rotatably mounted within the tub, the basket defining a treating chamber for receiving a load to be treated; a selectively opening door coupled to the cabinet to provide access to the treating chamber, the door having a vent defining a plurality of holes to allow air to exit the treating chamber when the door is in a closed position.
22 . The washing machine appliance of claim 21 , wherein the plurality of holes are defined at a top of the door.
23 . The washing machine appliance of claim 21 , wherein the plurality of holes are defined along an upper edge of the door.
24 . The washing machine appliance of claim 23 , wherein the door has a circular shape.
25 . The washing machine appliance of claim 21 , wherein the vent is selectively opened and closed during operation.
26 . The washing machine appliance of claim 21 , wherein the plurality of holes are slits at a top of the door.
27 . The washing machine appliance of claim 26 , wherein the slits allow air flow between the exterior environment and the tub.
28 . The washing machine appliance of claim 21 , wherein the washing machine appliance is a horizontal axis washing machine appliance.
29 . A horizontal axis washing machine appliance, comprising:
a cabinet; a tub positioned within the cabinet and defining an interior; a basket rotatably mounted within the tub, the basket defining a treating chamber for receiving a load to be washed; a door coupled to the cabinet and selectively movable between an open position and a closed position to provide selective access to the treating chamber, the door having a top and defining a vent at the top that extends through the door; and wherein when the door is in the closed position, the vent provides air flow between the exterior environment and the interior of the tub.
30 . The horizontal axis washing machine appliance of claim 29 , wherein the vent includes a plurality of holes.
31 . A washing machine appliance, comprising:
a cabinet; a tub positioned within the cabinet and defining an interior; a basket rotatably mounted within the tub, the basket defining a treating chamber for receipt of a load to be treated; and a door coupled to the cabinet and selectively movable between an open position and a closed position to provide selective access to the treating chamber, the door having a vent defining a plurality of holes that provide air flow between an exterior environment and the interior of the tub when the door is in the closed position, wherein the vent is selectively opened and closed during operation.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
