Quilt Binding Assistance Device

Abstract

A quilt binding assistance device is provided. The device is designed to support the weight and facilitate the binding of large quilts, such as queen or king sizes, by suspending them securely from an overhead structure. The device comprises a main suspension rope, equipped with an adjustable fastener, that allows users to modify the height relative to a sewing table for optimal positioning. A ceiling fastener, such as an eye bolt, anchors the device, while an attached swivel permits free quilt rotation to avoid twisting during binding. The main rope extends into secondary ropes with fasteners, which grip and distribute the quilt's weight evenly, maintaining alignment and reducing fabric distortion. This configuration allows users to sew the binding around the quilt's perimeter with ease, minimizing strain and enhancing accuracy for a professional finish.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A quilt binding assistance device comprising:
 a main suspension rope;   a ceiling fastener;   a swivel connected to the ceiling fastener and positioned below the ceiling fastener;   a connector fastener attached to the swivel, the connector fastener linking the swivel to a first end of the main suspension rope; and   a secondary rope attached to a second end of the main suspension rope, the secondary rope terminating in a fastener.   
     
     
         2 . The quilt binding assistance device of  claim 1 , wherein the fastener is comprised of a pinch clamp. 
     
     
         3 . The quilt binding assistance device of  claim 1 , wherein the fastener is comprised of a clip. 
     
     
         4 . The quilt binding assistance device of  claim 1 , wherein the ceiling fastener is comprised of an eye bolt. 
     
     
         5 . The quilt binding assistance device of  claim 1 , wherein the main suspension rope is comprised of a paracord. 
     
     
         6 . The quilt binding assistance device of  claim 1 , wherein the secondary rope is comprised of a paracord. 
     
     
         7 . The quilt binding assistance device of  claim 1 , wherein the main suspension rope is comprised of a chain. 
     
     
         8 . A quilt binding assistance device comprising:
 a main suspension rope;   an adjustment fastener positioned on the main suspension rope, the adjustment fastener configured to modify a length of the main suspension rope;   a ceiling fastener;   a swivel connected to the ceiling fastener and positioned below the ceiling fastener;   a connector fastener attached to the swivel, the connector fastener linking the swivel to a first end of the main suspension rope; and   a secondary rope attached to a second end of the main suspension rope, the secondary rope terminating in a fastener.   
     
     
         9 . The quilt binding assistance device of  claim 8 , wherein the adjustment fastener is comprised of a buckle. 
     
     
         10 . The quilt binding assistance device of  claim 8 , wherein the adjustment fastener is comprised of a ratcheting mechanism. 
     
     
         11 . The quilt binding assistance device of  claim 8 , wherein the adjustment fastener is comprised of a cord lock. 
     
     
         12 . The quilt binding assistance device of  claim 8 , wherein the main suspension rope is comprised of a braided cord. 
     
     
         13 . The quilt binding assistance device of  claim 8 , wherein the ceiling fastener is comprised of a toggle bolt. 
     
     
         14 . The quilt binding assistance device of  claim 8 , wherein the ceiling fastener is comprised of a hook anchor. 
     
     
         15 . The quilt binding assistance device of  claim 8 , wherein the ceiling fastener is comprised of an adhesive-backed hook. 
     
     
         16 . The quilt binding assistance device of  claim 8 , wherein the connector fastener is comprised of a carabiner. 
     
     
         17 . The quilt binding assistance device of  claim 8 , wherein the connector fastener is comprised of a snap clip. 
     
     
         18 . A method of using a quilt binding assistance device, the method comprising the following steps:
 providing a quilt binding assistance device comprised of a main suspension rope, a ceiling fastener, a swivel, and a secondary rope terminating in a fastener;   attaching the ceiling fastener to an overhead structure;   connecting the swivel to the ceiling fastener;   attaching the fastener on the secondary rope to an edge of the quilt; and   rotating the quilt around the swivel during binding.   
     
     
         19 . The method of using a quilt binding assistance device of  claim 18 , wherein the main suspension rope is comprised of an adjustment fastener. 
     
     
         20 . The method of using a quilt binding assistance device of  claim 19  further comprised of a step of adjusting the length of the main suspension rope to position the quilt at a desired height relative to a sewing surface.
