Sharpening tool

Abstract

A sharpening tool having a handle, a housing portion that encases a rotatable disk with various sharpening mediums along its perimeter, and a back portion with an additional sharpening slot. The disk can be positioned upright, allowing the sharpening mediums to be easily accessed from the bottom or front of the tool. The tool includes a locking mechanism to secure the disk during sharpening, and the disk can be rotated to expose different sharpening mediums, such as V-shaped sharpeners and sharpening rods, providing users with a versatile and efficient sharpening solution.

I claim: 
     
         1 . A sharpening tool comprising:
 a handle;   a housing portion extending from a front end of the handle;   a disk rotatably mounted within the housing portion;   at least three sharpening mediums positioned along a perimeter of the disk;   
       wherein
 at any given time:
 at least one of the sharpening mediums is enclosed within the housing; 
 at least one other sharpening medium is exposed such that it is accessible for sharpening. 
 
 
     
     
         2 . The sharpening tool of  claim 1 , wherein
 an axis of rotation of the disk is horizontal.   
     
     
         3 . The sharpening tool of  claim 1 , wherein
 each of the sharpening mediums is unique.   
     
     
         4 . The sharpening tool of  claim 1 , wherein
 there are at least four sharpening mediums positioned equidistant from each other along the perimeter of the disk.   
     
     
         5 . The sharpening tool of  claim 1 , further comprising
 a locking mechanism, wherein
 the locking mechanism prevents rotation of the disk when the locking mechanism is engaged. 
   
     
     
         6 . The sharpening tool of  claim 5 , wherein
 the locking mechanism is disengaged by pressing a button on top of the housing portion.   
     
     
         7 . The sharpening tool of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 at least one sharpening stone positioned on an outside of the handle or the housing portion.   
     
     
         8 . The sharpening tool of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 a back portion extending from a back end of the handle; and   an other sharpening medium positioned on the back portion.   
     
     
         9 . The sharpening tool of  claim 8 , wherein
 the other sharpening medium is positioned within a slot on the back portion.   
     
     
         10 . The sharpening tool of  claim 1 , wherein
 at least one of the sharpening mediums is a V-shaped sharpener; and   at least one other sharpening medium is a sharpening rod.   
     
     
         11 . The sharpening tool of  claim 10 , wherein
 the disk can be rotated such that at least one V-shaped sharpener and at least one sharpening rod are exposed at the same time.   
     
     
         12 . The sharpening tool of  claim 1 , wherein
 at least one of the sharpening mediums is a first-type sharpening medium; and   at least one other sharpening medium is a second-type sharpening medium.   
     
     
         13 . The sharpening tool of  claim 12 , wherein
 the disk can be rotated such that at least one first-type sharpening medium and at least one second-type sharpening medium are exposed at the same time.   
     
     
         14 . The sharpening tool of  claim 1 , wherein
 an exposed sharpening medium is accessible from an underside of the housing portion.   
     
     
         15 . The sharpening tool of  claim 1 , wherein
 an exposed sharpening medium is accessible from at least one of an underside and a front of the housing portion.   
     
     
         16 . A sharpening tool comprising:
 a handle;   a housing portion extending from a front end of the handle;   a disk rotatably mounted within the housing portion;   at least three sharpening mediums positioned along a perimeter of the disk;   
       wherein
 at any given time:
 at least one of the sharpening mediums is enclosed within the housing; 
 at least one other sharpening medium is exposed such that it is accessible for sharpening; 
 
 an exposed sharpening medium is accessible from at least one of an underside and a front of the housing portion. 
 
     
     
         17 . The sharpening tool of  claim 16 , further comprising
 a locking mechanism, wherein
 the locking mechanism prevents rotation of the disk when the locking mechanism is engaged. 
   
     
     
         18 . The sharpening tool of  claim 16 , further comprising
 at least one of the sharpening mediums is a v-shaped sharpener; and   at least one other sharpening medium is a sharpening rod.   
     
     
         19 . A sharpening tool comprising:
 a handle;   a housing portion extending from a front end of the handle;   a disk rotatably mounted within the housing portion;   at least three sharpening mediums positioned along a perimeter of the disk;   a locking mechanism that prevents rotation of the disk when the locking mechanism is engaged;   
       wherein
 at any given time:
 at least one of the sharpening mediums is enclosed within the housing; 
 at least one other sharpening medium is exposed such that it is accessible for sharpening; 
 
 an exposed sharpening medium is accessible from at least one of an underside and a front of the housing portion; 
 at least one of the sharpening mediums is a first-type sharpening medium; and 
 at least one other sharpening medium is a second-type sharpening medium. 
 
     
     
         20 . The sharpening tool of  claim 19 , wherein
 the first-type sharpening medium is a V-shaped sharpener; and   the second-type sharpening medium is a sharpening rod.
