Abstract

A system to be used with a subsea well or completion installation can include a non-oriented tubing hanger adapter bushing (THAB) to be associated with a sleeve and a full-bore tubing head spool (FBTHS) of the subsea well or completion installation. An externally activated key of the FBTHS can engage with a helical groove associated with the sleeve and with the non-oriented THAB to enable self-orientation of a tubing hanger independent of an external orientation application based in part on a blowout preventer (BOP).

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A system comprising:
 a full-bore tubing head spool (FBTHS) associated with a wellhead;   a non-oriented tubing hanger adapter bushing (THAB) comprising a sleeve and a helical groove associated with the sleeve; and   an externally activated key of the FBTHS to engage the helical groove and to cause a predetermined orientation to the non-oriented THAB, based in part on a location of the FBTHS and of the helical groove with respect to the wellhead.   
     
     
         2 . The system of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 a remotely-operated vehicle (ROV) to interface with only the externally activated key and to allow a remote activation directed to only the externally activated key; or   a hydraulic line to interface with only the externally activated key and to allow the remote activation directed to only the externally activated key.   
     
     
         3 . The system of  claim 2 , further comprising:
 a remote control room or unit located on a platform or in association with the platform which is at a seal level, the remote control room or unit to provide a remote activation directed to only the externally activated key and through the ROV or the hydraulic line.   
     
     
         4 . The system of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 a subsea well or completion installation associated with a casing installation; and   a sleeve installation, wherein the FBTHS is associated with the wellhead prior to the casing installation, and wherein the sleeve installation is for the sleeve to be supported within the non-oriented THAB.   
     
     
         5 . The system of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 a subsea well or completion installation comprising casing performed after the FBTHS is associated with the wellhead and before the non-oriented THAB is associated with the wellhead.   
     
     
         6 . The system of  claim 5 , further comprising:
 retraction capability for the externally activated key to allow retraction of the externally activated key for the casing in the subsea well or completion installation.   
     
     
         7 . The system of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 a subsea well or completion installation comprising a tubing hanger performed after the FBTHS is associated with the wellhead and after the non-oriented THAB is associated with the wellhead.   
     
     
         8 . The system of  claim 7 , further comprising:
 extension capability for the externally activated key to allow extension of the externally activated key for the tubing hanger provided in the subsea well or completion installation.   
     
     
         9 . A method comprising:
 associating a full-bore tubing head spool (FBTHS) with a wellhead;   associating a non-oriented tubing hanger adapter bushing (THAB) with the wellhead, the non-oriented THAB comprising a sleeve and a helical groove associated with the sleeve;   engaging, using an externally activated key of the FBTHS, the helical groove based in part on a remote activation directed to only the externally activated key; and   causing a predetermined orientation to the non-oriented THAB, based in part on the engagement between the externally activated key and the helical groove.   
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 9 , further comprising:
 using a remotely-operated vehicle (ROV) to interface with only the externally activated key; and   allowing the remote activation directed to only the externally activated key by the ROV interfacing with only the externally activated key.   
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 9 , further comprising:
 using a hydraulic line to interface with only the externally activated key; and   allowing the remote activation directed to only the externally activated key by the hydraulic line interfacing with only the externally activated key.   
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 9 , further comprising:
 locating a remote control room or unit on a platform or in association with the platform which is at a seal level; and   transmitting, from the remote control room or unit, a signal for the remote activation performed by an remotely-operated vehicle (ROV) or a hydraulic line.   
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 9 , further comprising:
 performing a subsea well or completion installation associated with a casing installation after the associating of the FBTHS with the wellhead; and   performing a sleeve installation for the sleeve to be supported within the non-oriented THAB.   
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 9 , further comprising:
 performing a subsea well or completion installation comprising casing, after the FBTHS is associated with the wellhead and before the non-oriented THAB is associated with the wellhead.   
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 14 , further comprising:
 allowing retraction for the externally activated key to support or allow the casing in the subsea well or completion installation.   
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 9 , further comprising:
 performing a subsea well or completion installation comprising a tubing hanger, after the FBTHS is associated with the wellhead and after the non-oriented THAB is associated with the wellhead.   
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 16 , further comprising:
 allowing extension for the externally activated key and for the tubing hanger provided in the subsea well or completion installation.   
     
     
         18 . An externally activated key of a full-bore tubing head spool (FBTHS), the externally activated key to engage with a helical groove associated with a sleeve and with a non-orientated tubing hanger adapter bushing (THAB), wherein the engagement is to enable self-orientation of a tubing hanger based in part on a remote activation directed to only the externally activated key. 
     
     
         19 . The externally activated key of  claim 18 , further comprising:
 retraction capability to allow retraction for the externally activated key, the retraction for at least installation of one or more casing in a wellhead underlying the FBTHS.   
     
     
         20 . The externally activated key of  claim 18 , further comprising:
 extension capability to allow extension for the externally activated key, the extension for at least installation of one or more of the sleeve, the non-oriented THAB to support the sleeve therein, or the tubing hanger.
