Additionally, the product preferably includes a comfortable easy-to-hold handle that can also be used as a clamp for attaching to a folding chair, bench and stadium seat for sporting events, graduations, and other outdoor or well-lighted events where shade is needed. Also, the configuration may be deployed on a shoulder harness across the user, enabling hands-free usage. The device can also include a powered fan and a water spray, providing further cooling.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A device for shade comprising:
a handle, said handle being connected to a first of a plurality of support members thereof, said support members being foldable into a compact configuration and extendable into an arm configuration; and an end support member, said end support member having within a head portion, said head portion connected at one end to said end support member upon exit from said end support member, said head portion having attached thereto a foldable fan, said foldable fan, when not being used, being folded up, and, when in use, a number of leaves of said foldable fan being folded out, said configuration forming a shade surface, whereby a user is capable of carrying said device for shade when folded, and later deploying said device, one side of said leaves of the foldable fan when arrayed forming said shade surface used to block out the Sun or other light source.

2 . The device according to claim 1 , wherein said support members are connected end-to-end.

3 . The device according to claim 1 , wherein said head portion ejects from said end support member.

4 . The device according to claim 1 , wherein said number of leaves deploy in a circular configuration.

5 . The device according to claim 1 , wherein said plurality of support members comprise two support members, one of said two support members being attached to said end support member.

6 . The device according to claim 1 , wherein said plurality of support members comprise three support members, one of said three support members being attached to said end support member.

7 . The device according to claim 1 , further comprising:
at least clamp, said at least one clamp configured to secure said device to a stationary object.

8 . The device according to claim 7 , wherein said handle detaches from said first of said plurality of support members and said at least one clamp is configured to attach to said first of said plurality of support members,
whereby said device attaches to said stationary object.

9 . The device according to claim 7 , wherein said stationary object is selected from the group consisting of a chair, a folding chair, a stadium seat, a bench, a wheelchair, a baby stroller and a vehicle, thereby making the usage of the device hands-free.

10 . The device according to claim 1 , wherein said head portion further comprises a powered fan, said powered fan deployed with and displaced from said shade surface,
whereby said powered fan provides blowing air to a shaded user.

11 . The device according to claim 10 , wherein said device has a battery compartment with a plurality of batteries therein to operate said powered fan, said device also having a charge port to recharge said plurality of batteries.

12 . The device according to claim 1 , wherein said head portion further comprises a spray device deployed with the head portion.

13 . The device according to claim 12 , wherein said device has a water reservoir with a supply of water to provide water to said spray device, said device having a hose from said water reservoir to said spray device to supply water to said water reservoir.

14 . The device according to claim 13 , wherein said water reservoir is external to said device and attached thereto.

15 . The device according to claim 13 , wherein said water reservoir is activated to provide water to said spray device by squeezing a pressure pad within said handle.

16 . The device according to claim 13 , wherein said water reservoir is activated to provide a mist of water, said mist blown by said powered fan onto said user.

17 . The device according to claim 1 , wherein at last one of said support members is telescoped into another support member, whereby said user, in deploying said plurality of support members, de-telescopes the support members with said another member outward to a desired distance and deploys the arrayed leaves of the foldable fan.

18 . The device according to claim 17 , wherein at least two of said plurality of support members are telescopically within said another support member.

19 . The device according to claim 1 , wherein the device in a folded configuration has a length within a range selected from the group consisting of about 6 to about 12 inches, about 7 to about 11 inches, about 8 to about 10 inches, about 8.5 to about 9.5 inches.
