Abstract
A cuff for a watch includes a pair of arcuately shaped arms detachably connected to a different side of a body of a watch. The pair of arms cooperate to define an opening opposite the body of the watch when the arms are coupled to the body of the watch. The arms can be detachably coupled to connectors, which can be detachably coupled to opposite sides of a body of a watch. The arms can laterally flex outward to allow an object to pass through the opening without breaking when coupled to the body of the watch or to a connector.

a watch body having a watch body connection interface; an arm connector having a top connector surface, a bottom connector surface, a front connector surface extending between the top connector surface and the bottom connector surface, a rear connector surface opposite the front connector surface and extending between the top connector surface and the bottom connector surface, and a plurality of prongs extending outwardly from the rear connector surface, wherein the front connector surface is detachably coupled to the watch body connection interface of the watch body; a first arm having an arcuate profile and comprising a top arm surface, a bottom arm surface, and an arm attachment surface extending between the top arm surface and the bottom arm surface, the arm attachment surface defining a plurality of cavities extending inwardly therefrom, wherein the plurality of cavities are positioned at locations along the arm attachment surface to accommodate passage of each of the plurality of prongs of the arm connector through the arm attachment surface and into a different cavity of the plurality of cavities of the arm attachment surface when the first arm is coupled to the arm connector; a second arm having an arcuate profile and detachably coupled to the watch body at a location opposite the watch body connection interface; and wherein the first and second arms cooperate to define a cuff having an opening opposite the watch body when the arm attachment surface of the first arm is coupled to the arm connector and the arm connector is coupled to the watch body connection interface of the watch body.

The watch of claim 1 , wherein the watch body connection interface comprises a first watch body connection interface, the arm connector comprises a first arm connector, the watch body comprises a second watch body connection interface opposite the first watch body connection interface, and the watch further comprising:
a second arm connector having a top connector surface, a bottom connector surface, a front connector surface extending between the top connector surface and the bottom connector surface, a rear connector surface opposite the front connector surface and extending between the top connector surface and the bottom connector surface, and a plurality of prongs extending outwardly from the rear connector surface, wherein the front connector surface of the second arm connector is detachably coupled to the second watch body connection interface of the watch body; and wherein the second arm has an arcuate profile and comprises a top arm surface, a bottom arm surface, and an arm attachment surface extending between the top arm surface and the bottom arm surface, the arm attachment surface of the second arm defining a plurality of cavities extending inwardly therefrom, wherein the plurality of cavities are positioned at locations along the arm attachment surface of the second arm to accommodate passage of each of the plurality of prongs of the second arm connector through the arm attachment surface and into a different cavity of the plurality of cavities of the arm attachment surface when the second arm is coupled to the second arm connector.
3 . The watch of claim 2 , wherein the first and second arms are configured to laterally flex outward from an initial position to a flexed position to allow an object to pass through the opening.
4 . The watch of claim 3 , wherein the first and second arms return to a pre-flexed shape in the initial position once the object passes through the opening to secure the watch to the object.
5 . The watch of claim 1 , wherein the arm attachment surface of the first arm is positioned at an end of the first arm such that the arm attachment surface is adjacent to and faces the rear connector surface of the arm connector when the first arm is coupled to the arm connector.
6 . The watch of claim 1 , wherein the first and second arms comprise one or more of thermoplastics, polycarbonates, nylon, elastomeric materials, carbon fiber, steel, precious metals, and semi-precious metals.
7 . The watch of claim 1 , further comprising a first removable shell configured to encase the first arm and a second removable shell configured to encase the second arm.
8 . The watch of claim 1 , wherein:
the first arm defines an aperture that extends through a width of the first arm; the plurality of prongs of the arm connector each define a hole that coaxially aligns with the respective aperture defined by the first arm; and the watch further comprises a lock configured to engage the aperture defined by the first arm and the hole defined by each of the plurality of prongs of the arm connector to secure the arm connector to the first arm.
9 . A watch cuff, comprising:
an arm connector having a top connector surface, a bottom connector surface, a front connector surface extending between the top connector surface and the bottom connector surface, a rear connector surface opposite the front connector surface and extending between the top connector surface and the bottom connector surface, and a plurality of prongs extending outwardly from the rear connector surface, wherein the front connector surface is configured to detachably couple to a watch body of a watch; a first arm having an arcuate profile and comprising a top arm surface, a bottom arm surface, and an arm attachment surface extending between the top arm surface and the bottom arm surface, the arm attachment surface defining a plurality of cavities extending inwardly therefrom, wherein the plurality of cavities are positioned at locations along the arm attachment surface to accommodate passage of each of the plurality of prongs of the arm connector through the arm attachment surface and into a different cavity of the plurality of cavities of the arm attachment surface when the first arm is coupled to the arm connector; a second arm having an arcuate profile and configured to detachably couple to the watch body of the watch; and wherein the first and second arms cooperate to define a cuff having an opening opposite the watch body when the arm attachment surface of the first arm is coupled to the arm connector, the arm connector is coupled to the watch body, and the second arm is coupled to the watch body.
10 . The watch cuff of claim 9 , wherein the arm connector comprises a first arm connector, and the watch cuff further comprising:
a second arm connector having a top connector surface, a bottom connector surface, a front connector surface extending between the top connector surface and the bottom connector surface, a rear connector surface opposite the front connector surface and extending between the top connector surface and the bottom connector surface, and a plurality of prongs extending outwardly from the rear connector surface, wherein the front connector surface of the second arm connector is configured to detachably couple to the watch body of the watch; and wherein the second arm has an arcuate profile and comprises a top arm surface, a bottom arm surface, and an arm attachment surface extending between the top arm surface and the bottom arm surface, the arm attachment surface of the second arm defining a plurality of cavities extending inwardly therefrom, wherein the plurality of cavities are positioned at locations along the arm attachment surface of the second arm to accommodate passage of each of the plurality of prongs of the second arm connector through the arm attachment surface and into a different cavity of the plurality of cavities of the arm attachment surface when the second arm is coupled to the second arm connector.
11 . The watch cuff of claim 9 , wherein the arm attachment surface of the first arm is positioned at an end of the first arm such that the arm attachment surface is adjacent to and faces the rear connector surface of the arm connector when the first arm is coupled to the arm connector.
12 . The watch cuff of claim 9 , wherein the first and second arms comprise one or more of thermoplastics, polycarbonates, nylon, elastomeric materials, carbon fiber, steel, precious metals, and semi-precious metals.
13 . The watch cuff of claim 9 , further comprising a first removable shell configured to encase the first arm and a second removable shell configured to encase the second arm.
14 . The watch cuff of claim 9 , wherein:
the first arm defines an aperture that extends through a width of the first arm; the plurality of prongs of the arm connector each define a hole that coaxially aligns with the respective aperture defined by the first arm; and the watch cuff further comprises a lock configured to engage the aperture defined by the first arm and the hole defined by each of the plurality of prongs of the arm connector to secure the arm connector to the first arm.
15 . A watch cuff, comprising:
a first connector comprising a front connector surface and a rear connector surface opposite the front connector surface of the first connector, the front connector surface of the first connector configured to couple to a first side of a watch body of a watch, the first connector further comprises a plurality of prongs extending from the rear connector surface of the first connector; a second connector comprising a front connector surface and a rear connector surface opposite the front connector surface of the second connector, the front connector surface of the second connector configured to couple to a second side of the watch body, the second connector further comprises a plurality of prongs extending from the rear connector surface of the second connector; a first arm having an arcuate profile and formed from a rigid or semi-rigid material, the first arm comprising a first attachment surface defining cavities extending inwardly therefrom, the cavities of the first attachment surface having a shape and position that corresponds with a shape and position of the prongs extending from the rear connector surface of the first connector, wherein the cavities of the first attachment surface are positioned at a location at which, when the first arm is coupled to the first connector, accommodates passage of each of the prongs of the first connector through the first attachment surface and into the cavities of the first attachment surface, each of the prongs of the first connector extending from the rear connector surface of the first connector cooperate to pivotally couple the first connector to the first arm about the prongs of the first connector; a second arm having an arcuate profile and formed from the rigid or semi-rigid material, the second arm comprising a second attachment surface defining cavities extending inwardly therefrom, the cavities of the second attachment surface having a shape and position that corresponds with a shape and position of the prongs extending from the rear connector surface of the second connector, wherein the cavities of the second attachment surface are positioned at a location at which, when the second arm is coupled to the second connector, accommodates passage of each of the prongs of the second connector through the second attachment surface and into the cavities of the second attachment surface, each of the prongs of the second connector extending from the rear connector surface of the second connector cooperate to pivotally couple the second connector to the second arm about the prongs of the second connector; and wherein the first and second arms cooperate to define a cuff having an opening opposite the watch body when the first and second attachment surfaces are coupled to the first and second connectors and the first and second connectors are coupled to the watch body.
16 . The watch cuff of claim 15 , wherein:
each of the plurality of prongs on the rear connector surface of the first connector outwardly extends away from the rear connector surface of the first connector; and each of the plurality of prongs on the rear connector surface of the second connector outwardly extends away from the rear connector surface of the second connector.
17 . The watch cuff of claim 16 , wherein:
the first attachment surface being at an end of the first arm and extends between a top surface and a bottom surface of the first arm, the first attachment surface further positioned to be adjacent to, and face, the rear connection surface of the first connector when the first arm is coupled to the first connector; and the second attachment surface being at an end of the second arm and extends between a top surface and a bottom surface of the second arm, the second attachment surface further positioned to be adjacent to, and face, the rear connection surface of the second connector when the second arm is coupled to the second connector.
18 . The watch cuff of claim 15 , wherein the first and second arms comprise one or more of thermoplastics, polycarbonates, nylon, elastomeric materials, carbon fiber, steel, precious metals, and semi-precious metals.
19 . The watch cuff of claim 15 , further comprising a first removable shell configured to encase the first arm and a second removable shell configured to encase the second arm.
20 . The watch cuff of claim 15 , wherein:
each of the first and second arms further define an aperture that extends through a width of the first and second arms; the plurality of prongs of the first connector and the plurality of prongs of the second connector each define a hole that coaxially aligns with the respective aperture defined by the first and second arms; and the watch cuff further comprises a first lock and a second lock, the first lock configured to engage the aperture defined by the first arm and the holes defined by each of the plurality of prongs of the first connector to secure the first connector to the first arm, and the second lock configured to engage the aperture defined by the second arm and the holes defined by each of the plurality of prongs of the second connector to secure the second connector to the second arm.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
