Chalk-Line Layout Anchoring Device
Abstract
A chalk-line layout anchoring device is provided. The device is comprised of a portable and stable tool for single-user layout operations in construction environments, comprising a planar weighted base for resisting chalk line tension, and equipped with a mounting structure for optional fastening. The base features a non-slip bottom surface for adherence to various substrates, a handle with an ergonomically designed grip area for repositioning, and multiple receiving points along its side configured to secure chalk line hooks at common framing intervals marked with visible alphanumeric indicators. Additional components may include a tape measure retention structure facilitating accurate solo measurements and alignment aids such as bubble levels or laser modules to support precision in layout orientation.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A chalk-line layout anchoring device comprising:
a base comprised of a handle; a receiving point disposed on the base, the receiving point configured to retain a chalk line hook or a chalk line hoop; a marking associated with the receiving point; and a handle affixed to or integrated into the base.
2 . The chalk-line layout anchoring device of claim 1 , wherein the base is comprised of a weight.
3 . The chalk-line layout anchoring device of claim 1 , wherein a bottom surface of the base is comprised of a non-slip material.
4 . The chalk-line layout anchoring device of claim 1 , wherein the handle is comprised of a grip area.
5 . The chalk-line layout anchoring device of claim 4 , wherein the grip area is comprised of a texture.
6 . The chalk-line layout anchoring device of claim 1 further comprised of a mounting structure attached to the base.
7 . The chalk-line layout anchoring device of claim 1 , wherein the receiving point is comprised of a recessed slot, a hook, a notch, or a pin-and hole-interface.
8 . A chalk-line layout anchoring device comprising:
a base comprised of a handle; a first receiving point and a second receiving point disposed on the base, the receiving point configured to retain a chalk line hook or a chalk line hoop; a marking positioned between the first receiving point and the second receiving point; and a handle affixed to or integrated into the base.
9 . The chalk-line layout anchoring device of claim 8 , wherein the first receiving point is positioned at an interval of 1.5 inches from the second receiving point.
10 . The chalk-line layout anchoring device of claim 8 , wherein the first receiving point is positioned at an interval of 3.5 inches from the second receiving point.
11 . The chalk-line layout anchoring device of claim 8 , wherein the first receiving point is positioned at an interval of 5.5 inches from the second receiving point.
12 . The chalk-line layout anchoring device of claim 8 , wherein the first receiving point is positioned at an interval of 7.5 inches from the second receiving point.
13 . The chalk-line layout anchoring device of claim 8 , wherein the base is comprised of a weight.
14 . The chalk-line layout anchoring device of claim 8 , wherein a bottom surface of the base is comprised of a non-slip material.
15 . The chalk-line layout anchoring device of claim 8 , wherein the handle is comprised of a grip area.
16 . The chalk-line layout anchoring device of claim 8 further comprised of a mounting structure attached to the base.
17 . The chalk-line layout anchoring device of claim 8 , wherein the receiving point is comprised of a recessed slot, a hook, a notch, or a pin-and hole-interface.
18 . The chalk-line layout anchoring device of claim 8 further comprised of a tape measure retention structure.
19 . The chalk-line layout anchoring device of claim 8 further comprised of an alignment aid comprised of a bubble level, a laser alignment module, or a plumb indicator.
20 . A method of using a chalk-line layout anchoring device, the method comprising the following steps:
providing a chalk-line layout anchoring device comprised of a base, a receiving point disposed on the base, and a handle; positioning the chalk-line layout anchoring device on a surface such that a bottom surface of the base rests on the surface securing a chalk line hook or a chalk line loop to the receiving point; and extending the chalk line to a target point and snapping the chalk line to create a layout line.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
