Self-Defense Coat Device
Abstract
A self-defense coat device is disclosed which comprises a coat component that is configured in the shape of a traditional coat or jacket. With the push of a button, the user may expand or retract the quills from the coat component. Further, the retractable quills are comprised of sharp, pointed ends that injure and ward off an assailant to keep the user safe. Thus, the coat component is especially useful for vulnerable people. The retractable quills can also be retracted and hidden to allow the coat component to simply function as a traditional jacket. Further, the coat component comprises multiple sizes and colors to fit the user's preference. The fabric of the coat component is very thick in width in order to successfully hide the quills when retracted.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A self-defense coat device that provides a coat with retractable spikes, the self-defense coat device comprising:
a coat component; and retractable quills; wherein the retractable quills are secured to the coat component and can retract or extend as needed; and further wherein the retractable quills can be compacted for storage within the coat component.
2 . The self-defense coat device of claim 1 , wherein the coat component is configured in the shape of a conventional coat with a main body and two arm sleeves.
3 . The self-defense coat device of claim 2 , wherein the coat component comprises an exterior surface, an interior surface, and an inner lining that is positioned between the exterior surface and the interior surface.
4 . The self-defense coat device of claim 3 , wherein the retractable quills are retracted or extended through a push button mechanism which activates a linear actuator.
5 . The self-defense coat device of claim 4 , wherein the push button mechanism is triggered by a first and a second button placed on the exterior surface of one of the two arm sleeves on the coat component.
6 . The self-defense coat device of claim 5 , wherein the user can press the first button which activates the linear actuator and allows the retractable quills to extend from the inner lining.
7 . The self-defense coat device of claim 6 , wherein the user can press the second button which activates the linear actuator and allows the retractable quills to retract back into the inner lining.
8 . The self-defense coat device of claim 7 , wherein the exterior surface of the coat component comprises small slits which are positioned such that the retractable quills can extend through them.
9 . The self-defense coat device of claim 8 , wherein the coat component functions as a conventional coat and is used for warmth or protection against weather.
10 . The self-defense coat device of claim 9 , wherein the coat component is comprised of a cotton, wool, fleece, polyester, or other suitable material which is thick enough to completely conceal the retractable quills.
11 . The self-defense coat device of claim 10 , wherein the coat component is available in varying sizes and styles.
12 . The self-defense coat device of claim 11 further comprising a plurality of indicia.
13 . A self-defense coat device that provides a coat with retractable spikes, the self-defense coat device comprising:
a coat component configured as a conventional coat with a main body and two arm sleeves on sides of the main body; and retractable quills; wherein the coat component comprises an exterior surface, an interior surface, and an inner lining positioned between the exterior surface and the interior surface; wherein the retractable quills can be retracted or extended as needed; wherein the retractable quills are secured to the inner lining of the coat component via a securing means; and further wherein the retractable quills are able to be completely hidden by the exterior surface of the coat component.
14 . The self-defense coat device of claim 13 further comprising a plurality of indicia.
15 . The self-defense coat device of claim 13 , wherein the retractable quills are controlled via a push button mechanism which activates a linear actuator.
16 . The self-defense coat device of claim 15 , wherein users can push a first button placed on the exterior surface of one of the arm sleeves of the coat component to extend the retractable quills.
17 . The self-defense coat device of claim 16 , wherein users can push a second button placed on the exterior surface of one of the arm sleeves of the coat component to retract the retractable quills.
18 . The self-defense coat device of claim 17 , wherein the exterior surface of the coat component comprises small slits positioned so that each of the retractable spikes can extend fully from the inner lining of the coat component without harming material of the coat component.
19 . The self-defense coat device of claim 18 , wherein the coat component is available in various sizes.
20 . A method of protecting a user from danger via a coat with retractable quills, the method comprising the following steps:
providing a self-defense coat device comprising a coat component with retractable quills; placing the user's arms through the arm sleeves of the coat component; pushing the button on the arm sleeve to trigger the extension of the retractable quills; walking without fear of danger; and pushing the button again to retract and store the retractable quills.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
