Abstract

A fan device having a first pedestal configuration and a second table-top configuration is provided. In one embodiment, the fan device includes a head assembly having a fan and a motor operatively coupled to the fan. The head assembly can also include an articulation mechanism and a plurality of legs coupled to the articulation mechanism. The fan device can further include a base assembly having a base and a support with a first end coupled to the base and a second end opposite the first end. The support can include a housing and an elongate receiving portion arranged within the housing at the second end of the support. The receiving portion can be configured to receive the plurality of legs to detachably couple the head assembly to the base assembly.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A fan device, comprising:
a head assembly having a fan and a motor operatively coupled to the fan, the head assembly including an articulation mechanism and a plurality of legs coupled to the articulation mechanism; and a base assembly configured to detachably couple to the head assembly, wherein the fan device is movable between a first configuration, in which the base assembly is placed on a surface and coupled to the head assembly, and a second configuration, in which the plurality of legs is placed on the surface and the base assembly is detached from the head assembly.

2 . The fan device of claim 1 , wherein a distance between the head assembly and the surface is greater in the first configuration than in the second configuration.

3 . The fan device of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of legs is configured to move in unison between an extended position and a stored position.

4 . The fan device of claim 3 , wherein in the first configuration the plurality of legs is configured to be in the extended position and spread apart from one another, and wherein in the second configuration the plurality of legs is configured to be in the stored position and pushed together with one another.

5 . The fan device of claim 1 , wherein a portion of the plurality of legs is configured to contact a receiving portion of the base assembly.

6 . The fan device of claim 5 , wherein the receiving portion includes a pair of opposing surfaces forming a guide path therebetween and a notch disposed adjacent the pair of opposing surfaces.

7 . The fan device of claim 6 , wherein at least one leg of the plurality of legs includes a protrusion thereon configured to contact at least one surface of the pair of opposing surfaces in the guide path, guiding the protrusion to be received within the notch.

8 . The fan device of claim 5 , wherein the receiving portion includes an opening, and wherein at least one leg of the plurality of legs includes a button configured to be received within an opening of the base assembly when the head assembly is coupled to the base assembly.

9 . The fan device of claim 1 , wherein the articulation mechanism includes a plurality of gears configured to cause each leg of the plurality of legs to actuate simultaneously.

10 . The fan device of claim 9 , wherein each leg of the plurality of legs includes a cross-member received within a frame of the articulation mechanism, wherein each cross-member includes a pair of gears disposed on opposite ends of the cross-member.

11 . The fan device of claim 1 , wherein the head assembly includes at least one of a rechargeable battery and a first DC power supply, and wherein the base assembly includes a second DC power supply configured to provide power to the head assembly when the head assembly is coupled to the base assembly.

12 . The fan device of claim 1 , wherein the head assembly includes a handle.

13 . The fan device of claim 1 , wherein the head assembly includes a misting unit selectively coupled to the head assembly, the misting unit comprising at least one outlet configured to emit a fluid.

14 . The fan device of claim 1 , further comprising an oscillating unit configured to rotate the head assembly about a longitudinal axis extending through a fan head support of the head assembly, wherein the longitudinal axis is orthogonal to the surface.

15 . The fan device of claim 1 , further comprising a user interface positioned atop the head assembly and a remote control unit detachably coupled to the head assembly.

         16 . A fan device, comprising:
a housing; a fan disposed within the housing; an articulation mechanism coupled to the housing; a plurality of legs disposed external to the housing, each leg of the plurality of legs having a proximal end coupled to the articulation mechanism and a distal end disposed opposite the proximal end; and an elongate support configured to removably couple to the housing, the elongate support configured being configured to receive the plurality of legs, wherein the plurality of legs is configured to move simultaneously between a first position, in which the distal ends are spaced apart by a first distance, and a second position, in which the distal ends are spaced apart by a second distance greater than the first distance.

17 . The fan device of claim 16 , wherein the plurality of legs includes three, four, or five legs.
