Infant-Support Couch Seat Device

Abstract

An infant-support couch seat device is provided. The device is designed to secure an infant on a couch, sofa, or similar furniture, preventing tipping or falling while seated. The device comprises a cushioned foam cross member that conforms to the infant's torso, a central support member positioned between the infant's legs to prevent forward sliding, and a vertical support member that anchors between rear couch cushions for stability. The cross member includes attachment points for securing toys or accessories and utilizes fasteners to connect with the vertical support member, ensuring enclosure and preventing displacement. The method of using the device involves positioning the vertical support member within couch cushions, placing the infant with the central support member between their legs, securing the cross member with fasteners to the vertical support member, and optionally attaching accessories.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . An infant-support couch seat device comprising:
 a cross member configured to rest across an infant's torso;   a central support member extending from the cross member, the central support member being configured to be positioned between the infant's legs and prevent forward sliding; and   a vertical support member configured to be positioned in a gap between a first couch cushion and a second couch cushion, the vertical support member being securable to the cross member.   
     
     
         2 . The infant-support couch seat device of  claim 1 , wherein the cross member is comprised of a flexible material. 
     
     
         3 . The infant-support couch seat device of  claim 1 , wherein the central support member is comprised of a semi-rigid internal structure. 
     
     
         4 . The infant-support couch seat device of  claim 3 , wherein the semi-rigid internal structure is comprised of a polymer, a corrugated plastic, or layered foam. 
     
     
         5 . The infant-support couch seat device of  claim 1 , wherein the cross member is comprised of a first fastener and a second fastener. 
     
     
         6 . The infant-support couch seat device of  claim 5 , wherein the vertical support member is comprised of a third fastener and a fourth fastener. 
     
     
         7 . The infant-support couch seat device of  claim 6 , wherein the first fastener, the second fastener, the third fastener, and the fourth fastener are comprised of a hook fastener, a loop fastener, a snap button fastener, or a magnet fastener. 
     
     
         8 . An infant-support couch seat device comprising:
 a cross member configured to rest across an infant's torso, the cross member comprised of a fabric cover;   a central support member extending from the cross member, the central support member being configured to be positioned between the infant's legs and prevent forward sliding; and   a vertical support member configured to be positioned in a gap between a first couch cushion and a second couch cushion, the vertical support member being securable to the cross member.   
     
     
         9 . The infant-support couch seat device of  claim 8 , wherein the fabric cover is comprised of an antimicrobial coating. 
     
     
         10 . The infant-support couch seat device of  claim 8 , wherein the fabric cover is comprised of an attachment point. 
     
     
         11 . The infant-support couch seat device of  claim 10 , wherein the attachment point is comprised of a reinforced fabric loop, a hook and loop strap, a snap fastener, or an elastic band. 
     
     
         12 . The infant-support couch seat device of  claim 8 , wherein the fabric cover is comprised of a stain-resistant material. 
     
     
         13 . The infant-support couch seat device of  claim 10 , wherein an item attaches to the attachment point. 
     
     
         14 . The infant-support couch seat device of  claim 13 , wherein the item is comprised of a toy or a pacifier. 
     
     
         15 . The infant-support couch seat device of  claim 8 , wherein the central support member is comprised of a non-slip bottom surface. 
     
     
         16 . The infant-support couch seat device of  claim 15 , wherein the non-slip bottom surface is comprised of a textured rubber. 
     
     
         17 . The infant-support couch seat device of  claim 15 , wherein the non-slip bottom surface is comprised of a silicone-coated fabric. 
     
     
         18 . The infant-support couch seat device of  claim 15 , wherein the non-slip bottom surface is comprised of a texture. 
     
     
         19 . A method of using an infant-support couch seat device, the method comprising the following steps:
 providing an infant-support couch seat device comprised of a cross member, a central support member, and a vertical support member;   positioning the vertical support member in a gap between a first couch cushion and a second couch cushion;   positioning the central support member between an infant's legs;   placing the cross member across the infant's torso; and   securing the cross member to the vertical support member using a set of fasteners.   
     
     
         20 . The method of using an infant-support couch seat device of  claim 19  further comprised of a step of attaching an item to an attachment point of the cross member.
