Sander Flex Pad for Rotary Floor Sander

Abstract

A sander flex pad suitable for use with a rotary floor sander, wherein the sander flex pad comprises a flat circular disc with a center opening and an intact circular peripheral edge; wherein the disc has at least 2 cuts through the disc, the at least 2 cuts are non-circular, the cut terminates before the peripheral edge, and the cuts are spaced evenly to allow the disc to balance when rotating.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A sander flex pad suitable for use with a rotary floor sander, wherein the sander flex pad comprises a flat circular disc;
 wherein the disc has a center opening;   wherein the disc has an intact circular peripheral edge;   wherein the disc has at least 2 cuts through the disc,   wherein the at least 2 cuts are non-circular; and   wherein the cut terminates before the intact circular peripheral edge.   
     
     
         2 . The sander flex pad of  claim 1 , wherein the at least 2 cuts are from about 2 to 12 cuts; and wherein the at least 2 cuts are evenly spaced around the flex pad to create balance when the pad is rotating. 
     
     
         3 . The sander flex pad of  claim 2 , wherein the at least 2 cuts do not cut through the center opening or the intact circular peripheral edge; and
 wherein the disc does not contain bumps or ridges.   
     
     
         4 . The sander flex pad of  claim 3 , wherein the at least 2 cuts are arcuate; and
 wherein the at least 2 cuts are a repeating pattern.   
     
     
         5 . The sander flex pad of  claim 4 , wherein the sander flex pad from the floor perspective is rotating counter clockwise; and
 wherein a leading end of the at least 2 cuts is closer to the intact circular peripheral edge and a trailing end is closer to the center opening.   
     
     
         6 . The sander flex pad of  claim 5 , wherein each end of the at least two cuts terminates with a small circular opening. 
     
     
         7 . A sander flex pad suitable for use with a rotary floor sander, wherein the sander flex pad comprises a flat circular disc;
 wherein the disc has a center opening;   wherein the disc has an intact circular peripheral edge;   wherein the disc has at least 2 cuts through the disc,   wherein the at least 2 cuts are non-circular;   wherein the at least 2 cuts are from about 2 to 12 cuts;   wherein the at least 2 cuts are evenly spaced around the flex pad to create balance when the pad is rotating; and   wherein the at least 2 cuts do not cut through the center opening or the intact circular peripheral edge.   
     
     
         8 . The sander flex pad of  claim 7 , wherein the at least 2 cuts are arcuate; and
 wherein the at least 2 cuts are a repeating pattern.   
     
     
         9 . The sander flex pad of  claim 7 , wherein the sander flex pad is rotating from the floor perspective counter clockwise; and
 wherein a leading end of each of the at least 2 cuts is closer to the intact circular peripheral edge and a trailing end is closer to the center opening.   
     
     
         10 . The sander flex pad of  claim 9 , wherein each end of the cut terminates with a small circular opening. 
     
     
         11 . The sander flex pad of  claim 10 , wherein the diameter of the disc is 7 inches. 
     
     
         12 . The sander flex pad of  claim 11 , wherein the length of the cut is from 1.75 to 2.25 inches long. 
     
     
         13 . The sander flex pad of  claim 12 , wherein the leading end of the cut is from 1.50 to 2.0 inches from the center opening; and
 wherein the trailing edge is from 0.75 to 1.25 inches from the center opening.   
     
     
         14 . The sander flex pad of  claim 13 , wherein arcuate cut is from an arc with a radius of 7 inches. 
     
     
         15 . The sander flex pad of  claim 14 , wherein the circular opening is from about 0.1 to 0.3 inches. 
     
     
         16 . The sander flex pad of  claim 15 , where the width of the cut from 0.010 inch to 0.25 inch. 
     
     
         17 . A sander flex pad suitable for use with a rotary floor sander, wherein the sander flex pad comprises a flat circular disc;
 wherein the disc has a center opening;   wherein the disc has an intact circular peripheral edge;   wherein the disc has at least 2 cuts through the disc,   wherein the at least 2 cuts are non-circular;   wherein the at least 2 cuts are from about 2 to 12 cuts;   wherein the at least 2 cuts are evenly spaced around the flex pad to create balance when the pad is rotating;   wherein the at least 2 cuts do not cut through the center opening or the intact circular peripheral edge.   wherein the at least 2 cuts are arcuate;   wherein the at least 2 cuts are a repeating pattern   wherein the sander flex pad is rotating from the floor perspective counter clockwise;   wherein a leading end of each of the at least 2 cuts is closer to the intact circular peripheral edge and a trailing end is closer to the center opening; and   wherein the sander flex pad is attached to a rotary floor sander.   
     
     
         18 . The sander flex pad of  claim 17 , wherein each end of the cut terminates with a circular opening. 
     
     
         19 . The sander flex pad of  claim 18 , wherein the number of at least 2 cuts is 6. 
     
     
         20 . The sander flex pad of  claim 19 , wherein sand paper is mounted on the sander flex pad.
