Abstract

Methods and systems are provided for firearm sound suppressors including a gas deflector. In one example, a suppressor comprises a housing, a projectile entrance, a projectile exit, one or more baffles, and a deflector chamber. The deflector extending outward from the housing and the deflector curving around a central axis of the suppressor.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
- 20 . (canceled)

. A suppressor, comprising:
an outer housing having a projectile entrance aligned with a projectile exit along a central axis; a deflector chamber enclosed within the outer housing and aligned with the projectile entrance; a central baffle chamber enclosed within the outer housing and aligned with the projectile exit, and a plurality of primary baffles enclosed within the central baffle chamber; at least one secondary baffle chamber within the outer housing and enclosing a plurality of secondary baffles, a channel extending through the secondary baffle chamber and defining a secondary exit through the outer housing; and a projectile aperture defined through the outer housing and aligned with the central axis to fluidically connect the projectile entrance to the projectile exit.

. The suppressor of claim 21 , comprising three secondary baffle chambers.

. The suppressor of claim 22 , wherein the three secondary baffle chambers are radially symmetrically disposed around the central baffle chamber.

. The suppressor of claim 22 , wherein each secondary baffle chamber is separated from an adjacent secondary baffle chamber by a substantially 120-degree arc.

. The suppressor of claim 21 , wherein the channel is parallel to the central axis.

. The suppressor of claim 21 , wherein a proximal end of the secondary baffle chamber comprises a chimney defining an opening into the channel.

. The suppressor of claim 26 , wherein the chimney comprises an internal diameter that is less than an internal diameter of the channel.

. The suppressor of claim 26 , wherein the opening fluidically connects an interior volume of the channel to an interior volume of the outer housing.

. The suppressor of claim 21 , wherein the projectile entrance is defined through a proximal end of the outer housing.

. The suppressor of claim 21 , wherein the projectile exit and the secondary exit are defined through a common end of the outer housing.

. The suppressor of claim 21 , wherein a distal end of the deflector chamber is spaced apart from a proximal end of the central baffle chamber.

. The suppressor of claim 21 , wherein the secondary baffle chamber is offset from the central axis.

. The suppressor of claim 21 , wherein the secondary baffle chamber is integrally formed with an inner longitudinal surface of the outer housing.

. The suppressor of claim 21 , wherein the secondary baffle chamber extends in a direction substantially parallel to the central axis.

. The suppressor of claim 21 , wherein the deflector chamber comprises a semi-cylindrical extension extending from an interior wall of the outer housing.

. The suppressor of claim 35 , wherein the projectile aperture is defined through the semi-cylindrical extension to form a cavity substantially aligned with the central axis.

. The suppressor of claim 36 , wherein all points along an interior surface of the cavity are equidistant from the central axis.

. The suppressor of claim 36 , wherein an end wall of the semi-cylindrical extension is substantially perpendicular to the central axis.

. The suppressor of claim 36 , wherein an interior surface of the cavity slopes away from the central axis.

. The suppressor of claim 39 , wherein an end wall of the semi-cylindrical extension extends at an obtuse angle from the sloped interior surface.
