Abstract

A nail enhancement includes a conductive substrate configured for placement proximal to a nail of a wearer and a color-changing layer comprising a chromic material that is integrated with the conductive substrate. A power source is in direct or indirect physical contact with the color-changing layer. The color-changing layer is activated to change appearance by the power source.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A nail enhancement comprising:
 a conductive substrate configured for placement proximal to a nail of a wearer; a color-changing layer comprising a chromic material, the color-changing layer integrated with the conductive substrate; and a power source in direct or indirect physical contact with the color-changing layer; wherein the color-changing layer is activated to change appearance by the power source.

         2 . The nail enhancement of claim 1 , wherein the power source is integrated with the conductive substrate.

         3 . The nail enhancement of claim 2 , wherein the power source comprises solar cells.

         4 . The nail enhancement of claim 2 , wherein the power source comprises a battery.

         5 . The nail enhancement of claim 4 , wherein the battery is rechargeable, and the power source further comprises a separate charging station configured to secure the nail enhancement and charge the battery.

         6 . The nail enhancement of claim 1 further comprising a power source positioned in a wearable device, the power source in wired electrical communication with the color-changing layer.

         7 . The nail enhancement of claim 1 , wherein the power source derives power from a wearer's body.

         8 . A nail enhancement system comprising:
 a nail enhancement including:
 a conductive substrate configured for placement proximal to a nail of a wearer,
   a color-changing layer comprising a chromic material, the color-changing layer integrated with the conductive substrate, and   nail wireless receiver connected to the color-changing layer; and   an external device comprising an external power source and a device wireless transmitter in communication with the nail wireless receiver;
       wherein the color-changing layer is activated to change appearance by the external power source.

         9 . The nail enhancement system of claim 8 , wherein the external device is a wearable device.

         10 . The nail enhancement system of claim 8 wherein the external power source is a battery.

         11 . The nail enhancement system of claim 10 , wherein the battery is rechargeable.

         12 . The nail enhancement system of claim 11 further comprising a charging station for the battery of the external device.

         13 . The nail enhancement system of claim 8 , wherein the external power source derives power from a wearer's body.

         14 . A nail enhancement comprising:
 a conductive substrate configured for placement proximal to a nail of a wearer;   a color-changing layer comprising a chromic material, the color-changing layer integrated with the conductive substrate; and   a power source comprising a bioelectric generator configured to harvest energy provided by a wearer's body, the power source in energetic communication with the color-changing layer;
       wherein the color-changing layer is activated to change appearance by the power source.

         15 . The nail enhancement of claim 14 , wherein the bioelectric generator includes a piezoelectric material.

         16 . The nail enhancement of claim 15 , wherein the piezoelectric material is a deformable layer.

         17 . The nail enhancement of claim 14 , wherein the bioelectric generator is a thermoelectric generator that converts body heat from the wearer to electricity.

         18 . The nail enhancement of claim 14 , wherein the bioelectric generator includes a biofuel cell including an anode, enzyme, circuit, and cathode to process a body fluid into energy.

         19 . The nail enhancement of claim 14 , wherein the power source further comprises a power management system.

         20 . The nail enhancement of claim 19 , further comprising an external device, wherein the power management system is contained in the external device.
