Abstract

An interchangeable brim sleeve that slides over a cap's brim is disclosed. Opposed upper and lower panels are joined along convex edges to form a cavity that snugly envelopes the brim while leaving a rearward opening for insertion. A flexible anchoring tab projects from the lower panel. Once the brim sleeve is seated, the anchoring tab wraps around the cap's sweatband and tucks into a flap pocket inside the crown portion of the cap. The wearer's forehead provides pressure against the anchoring tab and prevents the brim sleeve from sliding off during vigorous activity.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A brim sleeve configured to engage a cap, comprising:
an upper section comprising an upper convex edge and an upper concave edge, the upper section further comprising an inner side and an outer side opposite the inner side; a lower section comprising a lower convex edge and a lower concave edge, the lower section further comprising an inner surface and an outer surface opposite the inner surface, wherein the lower convex edge is coupled to the upper convex edge; an opening formed by the upper concave edge and the lower concave edge, wherein the opening is configured to slide over a brim of the cap and cover said brim within a cavity of the brim sleeve, the cavity being defined as the inner side of the upper section and the inner surface of the lower section; and an anchoring tab coupled to the lower section, the anchoring tab comprising a terminal end extending rearwardly from the open, wherein the terminal end is configured to nest within a sweatband of the cap.

2 . The brim sleeve of claim 1 , wherein the anchoring tab is coupled to the inner surface of the lower section.

3 . The brim sleeve of claim 1 , wherein the anchoring tab is disposed at a center of the lower section.

4 . The brim sleeve of claim 1 , wherein the upper section and the lower section each comprise a fabric.

5 . The brim sleeve of claim 1 , wherein the anchoring tab comprises a fabric.

6 . The brim sleeve of claim 1 , further comprising a mounting channel coupled to the lower section at the outer surface, the mounting channel configured to releasably secure an elongated accessory in a position parallel to a longitudinal axis of the brim sleeve, the longitudinal axis defined as extending from the opening to a junction of the upper convex edge and the lower convex edge.

7 . The brim sleeve of claim 6 , the mounting channel further comprising a pocket.

8 . The brims sleeve of claim 6 , the mounting channel further comprising one or more straps.

         9 . A brim sleeve system, comprising:
a cap, the cap comprising a crown portion and a brim, wherein the brim is coupled to the crown portion at a lower edge of a front region of said crown portion, the crown portion further comprising a cap interior and a sweatband hingedly coupled to the cap interior, the sweatband forming a flap compartment between sweatband and the crown portion; and a brim sleeve, the brim sleeve comprising:
an upper section comprising an upper convex edge and an upper concave edge, the upper section further comprising an inner side and an outer side opposite the inner side,
a lower section comprising a lower convex edge and a lower concave edge, the lower section further comprising an inner surface and an outer surface opposite the inner surface, wherein the lower convex edge is coupled to the upper convex edge,
an opening formed by the upper concave edge and the lower concave edge, wherein the opening receives the brim covers said brim within a cavity of the brim sleeve, the cavity being defined as the inner side of the upper section and the inner surface of the lower section, and
an anchoring tab coupled to the lower section, the anchoring tab comprising a terminal end extending rearwardly from the open, wherein the anchoring tab is wrapped around the sweatband and the terminal end is disposed within the flap compartment.

10 . The brim sleeve system of claim 9 , wherein the anchoring tab is coupled to the inner surface of the lower section.

11 . The brim sleeve system of claim 9 , wherein the anchoring tab is disposed at a center of the lower section.

12 . The brim sleeve system of claim 9 , wherein the upper section and the lower section each comprise a fabric.

13 . The brim sleeve system of claim 9 , wherein the anchoring tab comprises a fabric.

14 . The brim sleeve system of claim 9 , further comprising a mounting channel coupled to the lower section at the outer surface, the mounting channel configured to releasably secure an elongated accessory in a position parallel to a longitudinal axis of the brim sleeve, the longitudinal axis defined as extending from the opening to a junction of the upper convex edge and the lower convex edge.

15 . The brim sleeve system of claim 14 , the mounting channel further comprising a pocket.

16 . The brims sleeve system of claim 14 , the mounting channel further comprising one or more straps.
