Wireline conveyed casing test tool
Abstract
A wireline conveyed casing test tool may include a body having a maximum diameter and a distal end, where the distal end comprises a graduated diameter that increases to the maximum diameter, wherein the maximum diameter is configured to be larger than a seat diameter of a seat of a wet shoe sub, wherein the maximum diameter is configured to be smaller than a cavity diameter of the wet shoe sub, and where the distal end is configured to complement the seat of the wet shoe sub so that the distal end is configured to form a seal with the seat when the distal end abuts against the seat of the wet shoe sub.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A wireline conveyed casing test tool comprising:
a body having a maximum diameter and a distal end, wherein the distal end comprises a graduated diameter that increases to the maximum diameter, wherein the maximum diameter is configured to be larger than a seat diameter of a seat of a wet shoe sub, wherein the maximum diameter is configured to be smaller than a cavity diameter of the wet shoe sub, and wherein the distal end is configured to complement the seat of the wet shoe sub so that the distal end is configured to form a seal with the seat when the distal end abuts against the seat of the wet shoe sub.
2 . The wireline conveyed casing test tool of claim 1 , wherein the distal end has a semi-spherical shape.
3 . The wireline conveyed casing test tool of claim 1 , wherein the distal end has a conical shape.
4 . The wireline conveyed casing test tool of claim 3 , wherein the distal end has a planar surface that is substantially vertical.
5 . The wireline conveyed casing test tool of claim 4 , wherein the distal end has a diameter that is configured to be less than the seat diameter of the seat of the wet shoe sub.
6 . The wireline conveyed casing test tool of claim 1 , wherein the body is made of a non-dissolvable material.
7 . The wireline conveyed casing test tool of claim 6 , wherein the non-dissolvable material comprises a metal.
8 . The wireline conveyed casing test tool of claim 6 , wherein the non-dissolvable material comprises a composite material.
9 . The wireline conveyed casing test tool of claim 1 , wherein the body further comprises a recessed channel toward its distal end, wherein the recessed channel is configured to receive at least one of a group consisting of a sealing member and a pump down ring.
10 . The wireline conveyed casing test tool of claim 1 , wherein the body further comprises a hole in a proximal end of the body, wherein the hole is configured to receive a release mechanism of a wireline tool.
11 . The wireline conveyed casing test tool of claim 10 , wherein the hole is threaded.
12 . The wireline conveyed casing test tool of claim 10 , wherein the hole is configured to remain coupled to the release mechanism of the wireline tool as the body is inserted into the wellbore uphole of the wet shoe sub.
13 . The wireline conveyed casing test tool of claim 10 , wherein the hole is configured to become coupled to the release mechanism of the wireline tool as the body abuts against the seat of the wet shoe sub.
14 . The wireline conveyed casing test tool of claim 13 , wherein the hole is further configured to remain coupled to the release mechanism of the wireline tool as the body is retracted from the seat of the wet shoe sub.
15 . The wireline conveyed casing test tool of claim 14 , wherein the hole is further configured to remain coupled to the release mechanism of the wireline tool as the body is extracted from a wellbore.
16 . The wireline conveyed casing test tool of claim 1 , wherein the graduated diameter comprises a slope that forms a tool angle with a side wall of the body, and wherein the tool angle is configured to be substantially the same as a seat angle of the seat of the wet shoe sub.
17 . The wireline conveyed casing test tool of claim 1 , wherein the body is configured to maintain a seal with the seat of the wet shoe sub when a gun string operates uphole of the wet shoe sub.
18 . The wireline conveyed casing test tool of claim 17 , wherein the body is configured to maintain the seal with the seat of the wet shoe sub for over a week after the gun string operates.
19 . The wireline conveyed casing test tool of claim 1 , wherein the body is configured to withstand a pressure of at least 9800 psi.
20 . The wireline conveyed casing test tool of claim 1 , wherein the body is configured to be broken apart by a drill uphole of the wet shoe sub when the body becomes stuck within a tubing string inside of a wellbore.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
