Rapid release rooftop tent mount
Abstract
A bottom bracket made with a box at its center and a flange on opposing sides. Over each flange, on the side of the box, are two equal, opposing through-holes. Each flange is drilled with holes to allow the bracket to be bolted to a roof rack rail. A top bracket made in a box shape with an open bottom to fit over the box-shaped bottom bracket and with the top of the top bracket fabricated to accept two bolts that will screw into an adapter fitted into a rail slot on the underside of a roof-top tent. The top bracket also has two opposing through-holes matching the through-holes on the sides of the bottom bracket. The top and bottom brackets held together by a locking quick-release pin inserted through the through-hole on the sides of the top and bottom brackets.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A rooftop tent mount apparatus, comprising:
a bottom bracket configured to secure to a roof-rack of a vehicle, the bottom bracket, comprising:
a first, horizontal portion forming a first flange and a second flange, the first flange comprising one or more first holes and the second flange comprising one or more second holes, the one or more first holes and the one or more second holes each configured to secure the bottom bracket to the roof-rack of the vehicle,
a box extending vertically upward from the first, horizontal portion and interposed between the one or more first holes of the first flange and the one or more second holes of the second flange, the box comprising at least one first wall having one or more first holes and at least one second wall having one or more second, opposing holes;
a top bracket, comprising
a first, horizontal portion having one or more first holes on a first end and one or more second holes on a second end,
a second, vertical portion extending downwardly from the first, horizontal portion and interposed between the one or more first holes and the one or more second holes of the first, horizontal portion, the second, vertical portion comprising at least one first wall having one or more first holes and at least one second wall having one or more second, opposing holes; and
a locking pin configured to secure the bottom bracket to the top bracket.
2 . The rooftop tent mount apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the second, vertical portion of the top bracket is configured to slide over and couple to the box of the bottom bracket, the one or more first holes of the at least one first wall of the second, vertical portion of the top bracket aligning with the one or more first holes of the at least one first wall of the box of the bottom bracket, and the one or more second holes of the at least one second wall of the second, vertical portion of the top bracket aligning with the one or more second holes of the at least one second wall of the box of the bottom bracket.
3 . The rooftop tent mount apparatus of claim 2 , wherein when the top bracket is coupled to the bottom bracket, the locking pin is configured to slide through the one or more first holes, respectively, of the at least one first wall of the second, vertical portion of the top bracket, through the one or more first holes, respectively, of the at least one first wall of the box of the bottom bracket, through the one or more second holes, respectively, of the at least one second wall of the box of the bottom bracket, and through the one or more second holes of the at least one second wall of the second, vertical portion of the top bracket, thereby preventing separation of the top bracket from the bottom bracket.
4 . A rooftop tent mount apparatus, comprising:
a bottom bracket configured to secure to a roof-rack of a vehicle, the bottom bracket, comprising:
a first, horizontal portion forming a first flange and a second flange, the first flange comprising one or more first holes and the second flange comprising one or more second holes,
a box extending vertically upward from the first, horizontal portion and interposed between the one or more first holes of the first flange and the one or more second holes of the second flange, the box comprising at least one first wall having a first hole and at least one second wall having a second, opposing hole;
a top bracket configured to couple to the box of the bottom bracket, the top bracket comprising
a first, horizontal portion having one or more first holes on a first end and one or more second holes on a second end,
a second, vertical portion extending downwardly from the first, horizontal portion and interposed between the one or more first holes and the one or more second holes of the first, horizontal portion,
the second, vertical portion comprising at least one first wall having a first hole and at least one second wall having a second, opposing hole; and
a locking pin configured to selectively secure the bottom bracket to the top bracket.
5 . The rooftop tent mount apparatus of claim 4 , wherein the locking pin is configured to secure the bottom bracket to the top bracket by sliding through the first hole of the at least one first wall of the second, vertical portion of the top bracket, through the first hole of the at least one first wall of the box of the bottom bracket, through the second hole of the at least one second wall of the box of the bottom bracket, and through the second hole of the at least one second wall of the second, vertical portion of the top bracket, thereby preventing separation of the top bracket from the bottom bracket.
6 . A rooftop tent mount apparatus, comprising:
a bottom bracket configured to secure to a roof-rack of a vehicle, the bottom bracket, comprising:
a horizontal portion,
a box extending vertically upward from the horizontal portion, the box comprising at least one first wall having a first hole and at least one second wall having a second, opposing hole;
a top bracket configured to couple to the box of the bottom bracket, the top bracket comprising
a horizontal portion,
a vertical portion extending downwardly from the horizontal portion, the vertical portion comprising at least one first wall having a first hole and at least one second wall having a second, opposing hole; and
a locking pin configured to secure the bottom bracket to the top bracket.
7 . The rooftop tent mount apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the vertical portion of the top bracket is configured to slide over the box of the bottom bracket, the first hole of the at least one first wall of the vertical portion of the top bracket aligning with the first hole of the at least one first wall of the box of the bottom bracket, and the second hole of the at least one second wall of the vertical portion of the top bracket aligning with the second hole of the at least one second wall of the box of the bottom bracket.
8 . The rooftop tent mount apparatus of claim 7 , wherein when the top bracket is coupled to the bottom bracket, the locking pin is configured to slide through the first hole of the at least one first wall of the vertical portion of the top bracket, through the first hole of the at least one first wall of the box of the bottom bracket, through the second hole of the at least one second wall of the box of the bottom bracket, and through the second hole of the at least one second wall of the vertical portion of the top bracket, thereby preventing separation of the top bracket from the bottom bracket.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
