Abstract

In some implementations, a walkway cover may include a main layer, which may have a foam material. In addition, the walkway cover may include an upper layer having a foam material, the upper layer being secured to the main layer and positioned above the main layer. The upper layer may form one or more apertures between areas of the upper layer, the one or more apertures extending through the upper layer to expose one or more portions of the main layer. The walkway cover may also include an adhesive layer secured to the main layer and positioned below the main layer, the adhesive layer facilitating removable attachment of the cover to a walkway surface.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
I/We claim:

         1 . A walkway cover system comprising:
a walkway cover comprising: a main layer including foam material; an upper layer including foam material, the upper layer being secured to the main layer and positioned above the main layer; and an adhesive layer secured to the main layer and positioned below the main layer, the adhesive layer facilitating removable attachment of the walkway cover to a walkway surface.

2 . The walkway cover system of claim 1 , wherein the main layer is a sheet of foam material, and wherein the upper layer includes one or more areas of foam material.

3 . The walkway cover system of claim 1 , wherein the foam material of the main layer is an ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) foam material, and wherein the foam material of the upper layer is an EVA foam material.

4 . The walkway cover system of claim 1 , wherein the upper layer forms one or more apertures between areas of the upper layer.

5 . The walkway cover system of claim 4 , wherein the one or more apertures extend through the upper layer to expose a portion of the main layer.

6 . The walkway cover system of claim 5 , wherein the portion of the main layer has a different appearance from a visible portion of the upper layer.

7 . The walkway cover system of claim 6 , wherein the portion of the main layer has a different color from the visible portion of the upper layer.

8 . The walkway cover system of claim 4 , wherein the one or more apertures promote dispersion of water away from the walkway cover.

9 . The walkway cover system of claim 4 , wherein the one or more apertures provide increased traction of the walkway cover.

10 . The walkway cover system of claim 4 , wherein the areas of the upper layer are separate from each other.

11 . The walkway cover system of claim 1 , further comprising a deck surface, wherein the adhesive layer is removably secured to the deck surface to secure the walkway cover to the deck surface.

12 . The walkway cover system of claim 11 , wherein the walkway cover transfers less heat to a human foot than would an adjacent exposed area of the deck surface.

13 . The walkway cover system of claim 1 , wherein the upper layer and the main layer are bonded together.

14 . The walkway cover system of claim 1 , wherein the walkway cover comprises a sheet that is sized to fit a stair.

15 . The walkway cover system of claim 14 , wherein the sheet is about 28 cm wide by about 90 cm long.

16 . The walkway cover system of claim 1 , wherein the walkway cover is configured to be applied to a deck surface and then pulled up from the deck surface without leaving a noticeable amount of residue on the deck surface.

17 . The walkway cover system of claim 1 , wherein the walkway cover is configured to withstand walkway use in outdoor weather conditions comprising temperature differences, sunlight, and precipitation.

         18 . A method comprising:
forming a walkway cover, the walkway cover comprising:
 a main layer including resilient foam material;
an upper layer including foam material, the upper layer being secured to the main layer and positioned above the main layer, the forming of the walkway cover including forming one or more apertures in the upper layer, the one or more apertures extending through the upper layer to expose the main layer; and
an adhesive layer secured to the main layer and positioned below the main layer, the adhesive layer enabling removable attachment of the walkway cover to a walkway surface.

19 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the forming of the one or more apertures comprises milling the one or more apertures into the upper layer.

         20 . A walkway cover comprising:
a main layer; an upper layer comprising a foam material, the upper layer being secured to the main layer and positioned above the main layer, the upper layer forming one or more apertures between areas of the upper layer, the one or more apertures extending through the upper layer to expose one or more portions of the main layer; and an adhesive layer secured to the main layer and positioned below the main layer, the adhesive layer facilitating removable attachment of the walkway cover to a walkway surface.

21 . The walkway cover of claim 20 , wherein the main layer is a sheet of foam material, wherein the areas of the upper layer are areas of foam material, and wherein the upper layer has a visually distinct look from the main layer.
