Hinged lid packaging

Abstract

A pack for consumer goods includes an outer packaging container and an inner packaging container. The outer packaging container includes a lower box portion with an upper lid portion hingedly connected thereto. The inner packaging container includes a dispensing opening with a resealable closure, a front panel, a back panel, a top panel, a bottom panel, and opposing side panels; each side panel having an inner panel and an outer panel, the inner panel having a first width defining a width of the inner packaging container, and the outer panel including at least a portion having a second width defining flanges having a width greater than the first width. The inner packaging container is insertable within the outer packaging container such that the flanges extending from the back panel of the inner packaging container exert a biasing force on the hinged lid of the outer packaging container to assure lid closure is maintained.

         2 . A blank for a first container of a dual layered packaging container, the blank comprising:
 a pair of side panels respectively coupled to opposing first and second sides of a panel, each side panel of the pair of side panels being a continuous panel and including:
 a first portion having a first width and a first length; 
 a second portion having a second width and a second length, the second width being less than the first width; and 
 a transition portion joining together the first portion and the second portion, the transition portion having a third length. 
   
     
     
         3 . The blank of  claim 2 , wherein the second length is the same as the first length. 
     
     
         4 . The blank of  claim 3 , wherein the third length is the same as the first length. 
     
     
         5 . The blank of  claim 2 , wherein
 the panel is a first panel,   the pair of side panels is a pair of first side panels, and   the blank further comprises:
 a second panel; 
 a pair of second side panels respectively coupled to opposing first and second sides of the second panel; and 
 a third panel joining together the first panel and the second panel. 
   
     
     
         6 . The blank of  claim 5 , wherein each of the second side panels of the pair of second side panels have a continuous width. 
     
     
         7 . The blank of  claim 6 , wherein the continuous width is less than the first width. 
     
     
         8 . The blank of  claim 6 , wherein the continuous width is the same as the second width. 
     
     
         9 . The blank of  claim 5 , wherein a dispensing opening extends along a portion of the first panel and the third panel. 
     
     
         10 . The blank of  claim 9 , wherein the dispensing opening has rounded corners. 
     
     
         11 . The blank of  claim 9 , wherein the dispensing opening has a third width at least one half of a fourth width of the first panel and at least one half of a fifth width of the third panel. 
     
     
         12 . The blank of  claim 9 , wherein the dispensing opening includes a resealable closure. 
     
     
         13 . The blank of  claim 12 , wherein the resealable closure includes a label having a tacky surface. 
     
     
         14 . The blank of  claim 12 , wherein the resealable closure includes a label including bonding material on a surface thereof, the label adhered to the second panel. 
     
     
         15 . The blank of  claim 5 , wherein the blank further comprises:
 a pair of dust flaps respectively coupled to opposing first and second sides of the third panel.   
     
     
         16 . The blank of  claim 15 , wherein each of the dust flaps of the pair of dust flaps has a third width that is less than the first width and the second width. 
     
     
         17 . The blank of  claim 5 , wherein the blank further comprises:
 a fourth panel connected to the first panel at an edge away from the third panel.   
     
     
         18 . The blank of  claim 16 , wherein the blank further comprises:
 a fifth panel connected to the second panel at an edge away from the third panel.   
     
     
         19 . The blank of  claim 17 , wherein the blank further comprises:
 a pair of dust flaps respectively coupled to opposing first and side sides of the fifth panel.   
     
     
         20 . The blank of  claim 19 , wherein each of the dust flaps of the pair of dust flaps has a third width that is less than the first width and the second width. 
     
     
         21 . The blank of  claim 2 , wherein the blank is comprised of laminated board, metalized board, 12 or 14 point board, or any combination thereof.
