Powered Rotary Hair Styling Tool

Abstract

A powered rotary hair styling tool includes an elongated housing, a drive arrangement positioned in the housing that includes a rotary motor and a power unit operatively connected thereto, and a comb that includes a shaft and teeth extending from the shaft. The shaft includes a projecting portion that extends into the housing and is operatively connected to the rotary motor to permit the rotary motor to rotate the shaft about its longitudinal axis.

I claim: 
     
         1 . A powered rotary hair styling tool comprising:
 an elongated housing;   a drive arrangement disposed in said housing and comprising a rotary motor and a power unit operatively connected thereto; and   a comb comprising a shaft and teeth extending from said shaft, wherein said shaft comprises a projecting portion that extends into said housing and is operatively connected to said rotary motor to permit said rotary motor to rotate said shaft about its longitudinal axis.   
     
     
         2 . The powered rotary hair styling tool of  claim 1 , wherein said comb comprises a hair hook having a greater length than any of said teeth. 
     
     
         3 . The powered rotary hair styling tool of  claim 2 , wherein said hair hook is disposed at a distal end of said shaft away from said housing. 
     
     
         4 . The powered rotary hair styling tool of  claim 1 , wherein said teeth project radially from said shaft. 
     
     
         5 . The powered rotary hair styling tool of  claim 4 , wherein said teeth are aligned in a row. 
     
     
         6 . The powered rotary hair styling tool of  claim 5 , wherein each of said teeth have the same length. 
     
     
         7 . The powered rotary hair styling tool of  claim 4 , wherein said comb comprises two sets of said teeth projecting in opposite directions from said shaft. 
     
     
         8 . The powered rotary hair styling tool of  claim 6 , wherein said comb comprises two sets of said teeth projecting in opposite directions from said shaft. 
     
     
         9 . The powered rotary hair styling tool of  claim 1 , wherein said housing comprises an ergonomic outer surface to be held by a user. 
     
     
         10 . The powered rotary hair styling tool of  claim 1 , wherein said power unit comprises a rechargeable battery and a charging port disposed in said housing. 
     
     
         11 . The powered rotary hair styling tool of  claim 1 , wherein said drive arrangement comprises a power button disposed to project out of said housing and being operatively connected to said rotary motor. 
     
     
         12 . The powered rotary hair styling tool of  claim 1 , wherein said rotary motor is configured to automatically reverse and rotate in the opposite direction after a set number of rotations or time. 
     
     
         13 . The powered rotary hair styling tool of  claim 1 , wherein said drive arrangement comprises a switch disposed to project out of said housing and being operatively connected to said rotary motor to permit a user to selectively change the direction of rotation. 
     
     
         14 . A powered rotary hair styling tool comprising:
 an elongated housing, wherein said housing comprises an ergonomic outer surface to be held by a user;   a drive arrangement disposed in said housing and comprising a rotary motor and a power unit operatively connected thereto, wherein:
 said power unit comprises a rechargeable battery and a charging port disposed in said housing, 
 said drive arrangement comprises a power button disposed to project out of said housing and being operatively connected to said rotary motor; and 
   a comb comprising a shaft and teeth extending from said shaft, wherein said shaft comprises a projecting portion that extends into said housing and is operatively connected to said rotary motor to permit said rotary motor to rotate said shaft about its longitudinal axis, wherein:
 said comb comprises a hair hook having a greater length than any of said teeth, wherein said hair hook is disposed at a distal end of said shaft away from said housing, 
 said teeth project radially from said shaft, 
 said teeth are aligned in a row, 
 each of said teeth have the same length, 
 said comb comprises two sets of said teeth projecting in opposite directions from said shaft. 
   
     
     
         15 . The powered rotary hair styling tool of  claim 14 , wherein said rotary motor is configured to automatically reverse and rotate in the opposite direction after a set number of rotations or time.
